Let's keep our fingers crossed that a fair contract can be worked out quickly!

I hear that the contract has been extended until August 15th. What are the biggest bones of contention this time around?

Not sure what the "biggest" are...there are so many! Taking the incentives away from builders is a big one, as well as health care, to name a few.

My husband has worked for 36 years and has been through all the strikes. In March he was given the opportunity to retire, but he would only get credit for 20 years. He didn't take the deal so now we're getting ready for the rough ride. Shopping list should include canned fruits and veggies, canned meats flour sugar etc. Try to pay a few bills ahead of time or speak with the companies about the possibilities of a strike. PRAY!!!

Just remember. Once we give anything up, we will never get it back! My job sucks but it pays well. That is the only reason I work here. If I wanted to work for less, I would find a lower paying job. We all have to think this way. Lets not ruin our jobs because of a recession. The recession will end and people will be buying again. If we strike now, GT would be crippled. What we are building now, along with the private rubber product deals, are keeping GDTNA afloat. We have them in our court so lets act like it.

If you struck now your entire Union would collapse. Goodyear would use it's bloated inventory to get to the 90 day window for benefits at which time the lines would collapse and you'd go back to work for way less then what you could get without striking. The union was in much better position in 2006 and still got beat pretty bad, to think you'd do better this time is wishful thinking.

I don't see it that way. The tires in storage are not the tires we are currently making. The tires we are making are the ones selling now. Not stored. And now we have something from the union for health care and soon we won't have to worry with the national health care. What a savings for Goodyear that will be.

Tadpole (aka “shark”),

If you hate your job so much, why don’t you do us all a favour and quit. Your ranting and raving is becoming boring…

Daily Horoscope for November 28

Libra

Unexpected pressure on the job may add stress to your day, but by evening you are ready to relax with your partner, best friend, or spouse. Take this opportunity to talk about what you have been going through lately. The more you can help your partner understand your experiences, the better. Make sure you allow him or her plenty of airtime, too! Make love a two way street.
