Pass the Democrat's budget plan and CT may lead the country in the unemployment rate.

1 CT is catching up to MI concerning unemployment, but fortunately we don't have the huge Muslim population as in Dearborn. |

CT is already a "Right to Work" state. They need no reason to let you go. My reference to the unions is that it is harder to get rid of the dead wood in the unions than it is to discharge a white collar worker for any reason. Your "Red to Blue" question is confusing. If Blue means Democratic, we already are. If Blue is a reference to union workers, then the question makes no sense at all. They have been spared the axe. Boink! |

The way this article is written it states that HS is expected to lay off 1500 workers in 2009. That is 1500 out of 4000?????

When I worked there in the 90's, there were 11,000. I was in the first wave of 400 that got the boot. They have never really stopped. Sikorsky on the other hand, has added workers. Your life span at any UTC facilties tenuous, to say the least. They a Manager with 20 years service when I left. Of course, he was non-union and elderly. Discrimination? Prove it. |

UTC facilities "is" tenuous.....
They "axed" a Manager...... |

Let me think. Let us say I am a corporate decision-maker at Hamilton and the CT Politburo (1) retroactively increased the tax (I mean surcharge) on business profits,(2) greatly increased the income tax on my top officers and managers,(3) forced me to use over-paid union labor,(4) increased the taxes paid on raw materials and services procured within the State: what should I do? Oh yes and add a dishonest Attorney General who has been running for Senator/Governor since the day he took office. Answer: Hello, Tennessee. Are you looking for new corporations.
Bawk bawk bawk. Lame-o. |
Earl, you are from East Hartford so you must either work for Pratt, the State or you are unemployed. Accordingly, I can see why you would not care if other corporations leave the State. If you do not think this is a possibility, you are naive. The State has to bribe half of the companies in CT with tax credits to keep them in the State. When the State loses its ability to provide those credits, the companies will go. If that happens, your taxes will increase, that is, if you pay taxes. |

HS - Move your operations to Florida - tax friendly to corporations and we have many qualified job seekers.

They already have operations down there. They remained here for the work ethic and intelligence of job seekers in CT. Plus, they can make the correct change for a dollar. |

1 You are an idiot. ALL of the layoffs were salaried people- no union! Why dont you think before making an azz out of yourself? BTW there is so much mgmt at HS it is a joke! You have to work ther to believe it, 1 mgr for every 50 workers, collecting huge salaries and stock options. Look at G. David and his countess whore wife! |

CT is an at-will state, not a right-to-work state. |
So ... what do you think is an appropriate manager-to-employee ratio? 1:50 streteches a manager pretty thin. |
Janie - "At will" states are "Right to Work" states. CT is neither.
No. Right-to-work refers to state statutes which prohibit requiring payment of labor union dues or fees a condition of employment. There are 22 states which have right-to-work laws; CT is not one of them. At-will refers to the ability of an employer or and employee to sever the employment relationship at any time, for any reason. CT is an at-will state. |
