I can't imagine why this woman had to be hunted down. Even if she thought she had hit an animal the humane thing to do would have been to stop and check. I only think that since she was driving without a license made her lie low but to know that she had killed another human being and stay silent is beyond comprehension. I'm really surprised she was able to post a bond. What would make the powers that be think she won't flee....she didn't turn herself in to begin with. My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Sherman's family.

The fact that this woman was driving with a revoked license, and fled the scene ( I wonder if they were revoked for DUI ?) should increase the charges ten fold, especially if she was drinking that day. I guess we probably won't be able to determine that, since she stayed hidden for several days. One does wonder why she would cross the center line though, if she wasn't impared, inquiring minds want to know.

It took too long to bring those charges only to have this woman post bond. There were several comments in a prior posting about this accident that left me baffled. People should wait before they judge others. This woman crossed the line and hit a person riding on the right side of the road. She was driving with a suspended licence which means she would have had to do something terribly wrong to have her license revoked. Pray and Peace to Mr. Sherman's family and friends and pray and peace to this woman. I'm sure she's going through her own pain now.

She killed a man on her birthday. What was so important that she felt compelled to get behind the wheel of her death barge (illegally) and take a human life? I pull over if I hit a cat! She's old enough to know better, so there's no excuse for fleeing and hiding. Dave was ten times the person she could ever hope to be, and she took him from us.

Driving while license revoke should carry a max. sentence of her care less act of death by a gasoline operator 'n' hit and run as to leave the scene of accident 'n' 48 years old is old enough to know unless she has medical and/or mental illness problems 'n' was her license taken due to alcohol problems she could of been on doing the unlawful act of destruction of herself 'n' a county away from her resident county is like don't think that any one seen me so i will drive away after killing someone is wrong . . . . . . . what is her excuse for driving away other than driving while license is revoke as did she do this before she got caught . . . . . . .

None of us are in a position to judge the relative values of Ms. Dawson's life versus that of David Sherman. We're all angry about this, but let's try to be reasonable about what we say here.

She F*d up. Big time. But, she has a family, friends, people who love her, just like us, all members of our community. Check out her facebook page. Looks like a nice family, someone living next door to you and me. Think about Dave and his family, I don't believe their Quaker beliefs would support such vengful thoughts. I can't believe she ran off, can't believe she was even out there. But I do believe she and her family will suffer the rest of their lives for her mistakes, no matter what sentence she is given.

We need to have both families in our prayers. This was a terible accident!! I am shocked by some of the comments. I don't think that she meant to kill Mr. Sherman at all. I am sorry that people need to judge someone for what has happened. It could have happened to anyone of us. We do not know all the facts of the case. I have read so many conflicting stories in the media. It does not all add up. If the State Highway Patrol thought that it was not an accident, I think that they would have charged her more and would not have let her out on bond. We should not be judging people without knowing all the facts!!!

Whether or not it was an accident is irrelevant. The moment she left the scene that was intent. If I were a betting man i'd say she was drunk due to the fact she went completely over the center line. The fact that her license is revoked also is good evidence that her license was probably revoked for dwi in the past. I'm sorry but I feel no grief for her. To go completely over the centerline to the other fog line is insane. She shouldn't have been driving in the first place. She brought this on her self and she gets to live with it.

The real issue here to be angry about is why does a person who has hidden from the law for nearly a week end up with an unsecured bond ?? It is more than obvious that this is not a person who can be trusted to do the right thing as she has already demonstrated so who is to say she wont flee the country prior to her court date ? Does anyone other than myself really wonder why this country is in the shape it is ?? Well here is your answer, JUDGES, MAGISTRATES, GOVENORS, etc...

The law did what it could to keep Ms Dawson off the road and now the law needs to do the right thing and put her in prison.

That is all that I am saying here.

I was at the scene of this murder after it took place and saw the horror that Dawson brought upon the Sherman family and the cycling community. To learn that she deliberately got behind the wheel of a car with a revoked license tells us all about who she really is. Having this murder called a misdemeanor sends a message to us all. Unfortunately it is a bad message. If you murder a cyclist you might get you hand slapped and maybe some points on your license.(Unless your license is revoked...then you don't need to worry about this.) The Sherman family has been robbed of a loving caring husband and father. Where is the justice? I hope the DA revisits these charges.

We should not be judging people without knowing all the facts!!! TO THE CONCERN: I was reading your concern and had to respond to it. YES, I agree we have to pray for both families. YES, it was a terrible accident and I don't beleive she meant to kill Mr. Sherman either. I do beleive it can happen to anyone, but you have to consider what this women did: 1. DID SHE STOP AND GET OUT OF HER CAR, 2. DID SHE CALL FOR HELP (POLICE OR AMBULANCE), 3. DID SHE EVEN TRY TO SEE IF MR. SHERMAN WAS DEAD OR ALIVE (SHE COULD HAVE SAVED HIM FOR ALL WE KNOW). SO FACT 1: SHE HIT THE MAN, FACT 2: THAT SHE FLED THE SCENE OF THE CRIME WHERE SHE KILLED A MAN. FACT 3: THAT SHE DID NOT CALL FOR HELP ( I MEAN SHE COULD OF DID THAT WHILE SHE WAS FLEEING THE SCENE). FACT 4: THAT SHE DID NOT HAVE A LICENSE TO DRIVE. So there is alot of FACTS here. THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, SO EVERY WRONG DOING HAVE CONSEQUENCES AND SHE NEED TO PAY THE CONSEQUENCES NOT GET AWAY WITH IT. SO IT IS NOT THAT WE JUDGING HER FOR HITTING THE MAN, THE ISSUE IS WHAT SHE DID AFTER SHE HIT THE MAN
