No matter who gets what or is losing what or what closes, we really don't need to lose any more jobs in this area.

I drive a Jap car made in the US and I love it better then the 2 chevy's I had befoe. We can all poke fun at everyone losing their jobs and all anger aside it does suck for AAM. I remember my wifes best friends husband worked at the tonawanda Delphi plant and called me a sucker for going to school. I never really got to upset because I knew I took the right path. He know has 2kids living in the west coast trying to become a casino dealer. Truth of the matter is that all AAM employees are going to blog about people talking about this issue and will harbor ill feelings because they know this day was going to come, hell I would be pissed too. As a tax payer I am very concerned that we have at least 400 employees who are going to loss pay when this happens we all pay. I hoped they banked some money for a rainy day.AAM members your union representation screwed you over big time no question about it.

i buy jap because they are just plain better cars....oh and headline, hondas are made in alabama and fords are made in canada and mexico. no american car is american anymore and no jap car is all jap. i have 2 honda cars, a honda motorcycle and a yamaha motorcycle. they will outlast anything that gm, ford or harley davidson will ever build. my friend works for harley and he wishes he had a jap bike. the parts lists are funny to. there are more jap parts on a harley then on a goldwing. go find the specs...i dare ya. i'd go work at american axle for 13 bucks an hour and so would a lot of other people in this community. you'll never catch me driving a chevy though.
i had a ford fairmont way back that die after 89,000 miles....engine seized. then i bought a honda accord that has 285,000 miles on it . not too hard of a choice on what i'll buy next .

I drive a Honda now and the sticker said it was made in Ohio. I didn't feel too bad buying it after I saw that. I like it the most out of all of the cars I have driven.

We as strikers weren't given a proposal to review and we did not know UAW was letting Tonawanda Forge close up. The negotiators do not communicate with us.

You mean they want to pay the workers a measly 50K. How insulting! You should go on strike, I'll bet that will help. Unions have destroyed the manufacturing industry in the US. In an effort to secure good jobs and benefits for it's workers, they have driven up the cost of doing business here to the point that it makes no sense to stay here anymore. Now because 40K wasn't enough, we can all make 25.
We do not drive up costs. By the way, the money we make in the US, we spend in the US.

The Chevrolet Avalanche is 100% made in Mexico. By Mexicans at a much lower wage. Are the savings passed to the consumer? No.

As I understand GM offered 200 Million to AAM to end the strike--Now we have corporate greed--as I understand, Dauch wants to keep the 200 Million and close the third and last buffalo area plant--a true insult to the intelligence of the factory workers--Let's support the UAW - they were talking about closing anyways, now we actually know that Corporate Greed is the culprit here and I think Dauch is suffering from Dementia!
Why would Buffalo AAM Plant be idle and not closed??? hummmmmmmm

So true--as my husband will do!! Already been offered positions--does not want to go back to salary jobs (just because there is NO UNION!) After working at two jobs in his field, when bottom line had to be cut--out went salaried personnel! No protection, don't care what you gave the company--your salary was in the dollars to reduce cost--but the union people got to say!!!!

All the name calling is not going to change the sad fact that the economy in this area just took another blow. It is really sad to see what has become of this area in my lifetime when it had soooo much potential.

I hear you. I would bet old Dickie got a boner when he heard of the GM offer and thought of a good place to build in or expand Gaudalahara, Mexico.

From what I understand, when the negotiators toss the language back and forth things like offers are changed all the time.

In Mexico, their are jobs for every Juan!! Ole!

Just to inform you...The Buffalo Plant, Tonawanda and Cheektowaga were on the hit list 3 years ago. We knew this then, so it is not news to us. Mr. Dauch wants all his business in Detroit, not in the state of NY. End of story.
