I ran for them and nothing but trouble. Only stayed about four months. They couldn't get me the miles and other drivers at Landair said the same when I was there. I wouldn't point any drivers to Landair. Sorry to hear about your husband Toni

1 Not very reliable. Many sectors of the transportation industry have their ups and downs but it does take a strong company to make it 25 years in the industry. Their place in the market is very strong compared to many companies who are on the financial decline. Drivers at Landair, just like many other companies, seem to find a niche after some time and make very good money. I would recommend driving for Landair but understand your surroundings. It is not going to be an easy job and they will run you to the east coast often. Do some research on the companies out there and you can find the right one, but don't give up easily. There are very few differences between the players in the industry. |

1 Jay - You must be a Landair new hire. Get ready to learn some lessons buddy. Ask around about how they treat their employees. Ask about the mass exodus over the last few years. You will learn. Keep your resume ready my man! |

I say STAY AWAY from Landair. I dont know about what their financial situation is, but they obviously do not care a hoot about their drivers. They promise 2500-3000 miles a week, but you never get it. They promise alot of things but it never happens. The turnover rate is horrible and like the others have said, you talk to any Landair driver they will tell you the same. My boyfriend has been there since Nov 07 and he is leaving to go drive for someone else at the end of this month. He has had to drive 7 days a week just to try and get 2500 miles. Then he found out that they havent been paying him his "performance bonus" which is supposed to be paid after 2300 miles a week. Course they get you in there telling you they will pay you so much per mile and then once you have signed the papers, then they inform you that 5 cents of that is a "performance bonus" that you get after 2300 miles, of which you can barely get that many miles, so actually you are driving for 5 cents less that what they told you when you hired in, then if you threaten to leave they tell you that you signed something in orientation that says if you leave before 6 months, you have to pay for your orientation costs. What a joke!!... and the thing that pisses me off the most is the "miles" they pay. They are always 30, 40, and even 70 miles less on the pay miles than what the actual miles are. My bf has drivin their specific directions on a route that said it was 509 miles. Drove it exactly as they told him and it was 580 some miles. So every route you are losing money. 30 here, 70 there, all adds up when you are getting paid by the mile. Oh and the way they route you is a joke. All these back 2 lane roads so they can save mileage. So again it takes you more time, for less money. Like I said he is leaving after next week, and I am sure it is going to be a battle to get paid the money that he is actually owed. But hey, I guess they will have to deal with yet another law suite. Maybe someday they will learn to treat their drivers better. My BF has 12 yrs of OTR experience, so he will go somewhere where they will appreciate and take care of their drivers.

1 having a problem contact Greeneville talk to the appropriate people, thats what I did. As for Landair, they are no different than any other company, Swift,JbHUnt,Covenant, all companies are trying to make cut backs, its sad to say but they want to make more money for themselves, all companies are the same. I quit Landair in 07 came back after a month, they reinstated me just as if I never quit. Due to the second fm I had. Last Year I made $50840.00 for the Year.Thats not so bad now is it.Drivers today want the paycheck, for nothing,(not all, but some). ALL companies promise you the world and gives you the dirt, unless its a union company then they are bound by a contract to up hold they're end. Maybe we all should be come union,as for now drive hard, make as much money as possible and be happy |

1 I am currently working for another trucking company and do not see the disparaging attitude like I saw at Landair. |

I too worked at Landair for a few years and can say that they have the worst work environment of any company I have ever worked for. Their upper management spends hours trying to figure out how to "screw" their employees and drivers, so consider yourself warned.
I came upon this through a Google search and am not all too surprised at all the negative feedback. If you read this and have had a similar experience with Landair, blog here! |

I was about to drive for Landair too and live just outside Greeneville and heard about all the problems. A few old drivers I talked to said no miles and they treat you bad. Glad I didn't go too. See there are alot of people who have had trouble there at Landair. My brother in law drove for them and just quit too.
