(CP) - Maple Leaf Foods (TSX:MFI) says it will close its Marion Street pork processing operation in Winnipeg in October and move the work to its plant in Brandon, Man.
The Marion Street operation employs 145 people and processes between 15,000 to 20,000 hogs per week, the Toronto-based food company says. Maple Leaf says it expects to provide other positions for the salaried employees currently at the Marion Street plant.
Some of the hourly workers will have a chance to work at other Maple Leaf plants. Others will get financial support and outplacement and employment counselling services. Read more
