How Could U Tell If Jewelery Is Real Gold?

i have a gold necklace and the pedant is saphire with diamons surounding it. On the back of it is stamped 'ROMAN' but no 14k or 18k etc. Is this even real or fake? Please help A.S.A.P

Yes, it means that it was made at a factory located in the southern united states that stamps all of its manufactured jewelry with an "*" followed by the first letter of the month it was made. in this case, it wuold have been made in March or May. If it is 100 years old, then it would have been made in March or May 1909. Thanks.

Its fake. The only way to tell if gold is real is by the stamp 14k or 18k. No other test can verify for sure other than this. It is well known that romans wear bronze and/or silver, so thi is definitely fake. Thanks.

Geneva is a relatively inexpensive watch, so doubt its worth much. Very unlikely to be real gold.

TAKE IT TO A JEWELER AND THEY CAN TEST IT FOR YOU. LOOK FOR ANY SPOTS WHERE THE GOLD MAY HAVE CHIPPED OFF AS AN INDICATION THE GOLD IS FAKE.
