I saw a post about whether you can see if a piece is of real gold or not. Interesting comment about the answer - take it to a jewelry store and they will put it through a test. An it's pretty cheap as well. Thanks for the answer.

Also for online buying you can verify the reputation of the seller by looking for accreditation like a BBB link.
