Give me a friggin break. In these tough economic times - does the Navy think that they really "need" Tiffany utensils for their ship? Is this just another blatant slap in the face to the hordes of people who are just struggling to survive - and we do our best to keep roofs over our family's heads, and food on plates (not Tiffany plates). I can't believe this.

Fancy silver , for a ship named after NYC? When NYC as well as other cities across this country have people that need jobs so they can feed their families!!! In this day and time how rude to put such a wish list in the face of American citizens! Where will all the madness end, just like all the big pay outs from companies that took money from Tax payers! Has this country become the Land Of GREEDY?

All you land-locked Okies need to take a chill pill.

Ships used to get silver serving sets as part of their wardroom paraphenalia on commissioning. A lot of it was custom-engraved. Go visit the Oklahoma history museum some time and look at the USS Oklahoma sterling sets. That came from tax-payer money.

Settin up a registry at Tiffanys is the equivalent of asking for donations. Not one dime is coming from you (obviously), so what is your beef?

Having served in the Navy for 23 years (as an officer), I can remember occasions where something like this was used while entertaining international dignitaries. Navy ships spend as much time doing international diplomacy as they do chasing pirates or shooting missiles. Read up on the Great White Fleet.

Personally, I think the Sterling silver sets don't get enough use to warrant having them, but then again, I am not Commanding Officer of any ship.

How stupid! Its a working boat, not a 5 star hotel. Give em standard issue utensils like all the other branches use.

Just goes to show how GAY the Navy is!

Ok this is why it’s called a gift registry. You do not have to buy if you do not want to. Former Navy is correct Navy ships spend a lot of time doing international diplomacy and this ship will for sure be used for this reason. And as far as the Navy being GAY I believe that you Navy Sucks need to grow up and focus on the issue not your uneducated opinion.

I have had the unpleasant pleasure of having to work with the Navy and the way they operate is flat out gay! They waste so much money because of their stupid traditions.

I was active duty and currently in the reserves and the Navy is really gay. Just check out the enlisted "sailor moon" uniforms. And the lame dungarees/ utilities. All the other branches wear high tech camo.

This just seems like a waste of money. If every person that is willing to spend hundreds of dollars on silverware, put that money to good use and feed a starving child our world would be much better. I have many freinds and family that serve in the Armed Forces and they all believe that this is also a total waste. Lets send more life saving gear to our guys and girls on the ground. Time to re priortize.

The Navy finally decided to go with high tech camo but they took it to the extreme. Just like queers, they REALLY stand out! Hey Navy, camo is supposed to help you blend in...not stand out!

Daily Horoscope for November 28

Sagittarius

You may want to do things on the spur of the moment, but pay attention to detail if you want to avoid unexpected expenses. Even a last-minute decision to go for a bike ride could end up with an injury or a flat tire, so try to think your actions out carefully. Once unpredictable Uranus settles down, you can enjoy a more relaxed attitude towards life. This evening you can let your hair down.
