I had a very bad experience with this company and I want to prevent you from having same experience. They claim that they provide you a high speed internet access but when you buy the product you will find that they can provide a very slow internet connection. The funy thing is that they charge you for a full year and when you want to cancel your account they hardly refound you. It's a waste of time and nerve to deal with them. I just wanted to share my bad experience with you.

Ok i knew they were a new starting compagny and yes they have there problems(dsl slowdowns, dsl connection issues mostly around midnight when updating there servers.) But for 18.95/month compared to 45.95/month bell sympatico its worth it(anyways bell has all of the same issues and more i had 3mb/s service with bell for 45.95/month then switched to acanac and received 4.5mb/s service i was happy espeacially for less than half the price). I've been with them for internet for a year and at the first three months they had so many issues but they since updated their equipment and the issues seem to be going away(i am a happy customer)... after the first year its 33.95/month with contract(taxes included) still much better than bell sympatico(they say they now have 7mb/s service well maybe now they can offer me the 4.5mb/s service instead of 3mb/s when they said they offered 5mb/s service...ok i hate bell sympatico(too expensive), expressvu(was getting half of the channels and too expensive), bell phone(this at least works and is clear).

Getting new number assignments out of Acanac, and getting them to process new applications for their 'soft phone' service is really difficult. Going into the third week now, waiting for numbers to be processed. A relative has had the same problem. Here are some funny answers he got to questions he emailed them:

I ask, "What color is it?"
They answer, "16 inches".

I ask, "How do you register a line?"
They answer, "Yes, your line is OK"

They can type some English words... but they don't know English.

So emailing Acanac is pretty much useless. Ditto for talking to their sales reps. Called 6 times in the past two weeks to find out where my 'soft phone' order is. Still don't have it. I've paid, though.

i am pleased with the first year price, you get what you payed for... example my friend pays 40$ for rogers has a download limit of lets say 5gb/month... about the same speeds, another friend has sympatico pays 50$/month gets 1mb/s limited service for 50$/month... well acanac is the obvious choice they have some downtimes i agree but are a huge upgrade at a cheaper price from bell sympatico for me...

i called, i paid Friday late
Monday the modem was here with fedex
Wednesday the dsl was up and running

speed is ok, and they did not even charge me for the modem as they said they would

both down and up load speeds are there, and ping is not bad... so all together i cant say a single bad things about them

They were a nightmare to deal with for me. I wonder if I had extra problems because I'm a mac user. Anyway, I tried for hours to get the highspeed working adequately, and after a couple of weeks, I gave up and switched providers. I cancelled the account. Now, a full year later, they put a charge of over $400 on my visa bill!

They claim that they don't have a final cancellation order for my account. I am in the middle of fighting it. If I included the cost of my time in dealing with this company, their service would be the most expensive in the world.

I made full net pages about what I thought about Bell and they gladly cancelled my account..

Week ago my home Acanac Internet stop work, I call the Acanac, they said to order a new modem for me about $90 more. I have tried my modem by my neighbor’s Internet, the modem works well.

I had read some post on the Internet said that their Acanac Internet did not work, after following the suggestion of Acanac to replace their own modem by the one that bought from Acanac, the Internet works well without a technician came. I wonder Acanac is making money by cheating customers.

Same experience - they stall enough that they charge you a month "service fee" because they refuse to process the refund when requested. You get lied to, hung up on, stalled on and generally treated like a 3rd class customer by this company.
I would urge you to Google "Better Business Bureau Canada" and search for Acanac. You will see the numerous complaints against them and their fantastic "F" rating by the BBB

Hi,

Acanac has to the worst service ever! They fraud people credit cards, or let there employees do it and they don't do anything to prevent it.

They charged me 600$ for services i never used, they refuse to refund, they can't speak english, they don't answer, and worst is that no one to answer the phone, you just get invoices and stupid answers by email.

I believe consumer protection should ban this company of giving any more services. This is Canada.

speed sucks. I have cable internet from them. I ordered and am charged for 10mbit. Although i only get 1 mbit download. What a rip off.

Cannot play any games.
Dont go for this company.

I agree. No refund. They disconnect your call after 30 mnts of waiting. customer service by email ask you to call, when you call (in case you r lucky) they say it has to be done via email...:)
Thats their business.

Just stay with them for a year. Request cancellation atleast 45 days before the subsciption ends by email & on phone.

FRAUD! Paid for a whole year, never get the service and they don't want to refund. What can I do???

Also I see weird transaction on my credit card since I send them my number / expiration date. Visa is on it, but I fear even more problems.

just got voip from them, and they flagged my account for making too many calls that i did not make( phone was hooked up 1 minute) and i get absolutely no one to talk to about it, stay away from this company-or you will get what you pay for here, hope someone sue them soon
