WHY IS IT SO HARD TO BELIEVE ALLSTATE IS GETTING SUED?
THEY DID NOT HAVE REINSURANCE IN MISSISSIPPI OR LOUISIANA FOR THE SAME REASON THE PEOPLE IN MISSISSIPPI DID NOT HAVE FLOOD INSURANCE.
BAD ADVICE FROM ALLSTATE. EVEN THOUGH THE HURRICANE DEDUCTIBLE POLICY READS:
POLICY ENDORSEMENT
THE FOLLOWING ENDORSEMENT CHANGES YOUR POLICY PLEASE READTHIS DOCUMENT CAREFULLY AND KEEP IT WITH YOUR POLICY
THIS ENDORMENT CHANGES YOUR POLICY -KEEP IT WITH YOUR POLICY
HURRICANE DEDUCTIBLE
THE HURRICANE DEDUCTIBLE APPLIES IN THE EVENT OF COVERED LOSS CAUSED BY WINDSTORM, OR BY ANY OBJECT (S) DRIVEN BY WINDSTORM DURING THE FOLLOWING TIME PERIOD.

DEFINE OBJECT;
IS WATER AN OBJECT

ANSWER:
OBJECT IS SOMETHING OF THE SENSES FEEL, TASTE, SEE, SMELL, HEAR.
LAST I SEEN, TASTED, FELT, SMELLED, AND HEARD WATER IT WAS AN OBJECT.
CAN YOU PLACE WATER IN OBJECT (S) PLACE.
IF YES WHY ISN'T IT COVERED.

I never liked Allstate. My rental house insurance was cancelled after 20 years without any claims. I cancelled our two car insurance policies years ago, because of a sudden premium increase without reason. I am now insured with State Farm and have no problems.
I believe if insurance companies don't insure windstorm, flood etc. they should not be allowed to do any business in that state,(Like Florida)

No insurance companies insure flood under a homeowners policy that is up to the client to take it upon their selves to purchase flood insurance seperatly. It has always been this way!! In regard to the other comment. If you read your policy carefully then you know you have a deductible for WIND, HURRICANE AND HAIL!! Not Flood (WATER) because it is not covered unless you purchaes a seperate flood policy. Allstate dosent make the rules the department of insurance in your state does!! Most insurance companies have all the same guildlines

PFFFF--are you an insurance employee? I don't want to be paid for flood damage to my yard. I want my home owners to pay for the wind damage that I paid for and experienced. I questioned two different agents repeatedly about wind damage from hurricanes and was assured I was covered. Yeah, right. It's theft, plain and simple. LEGAL THEFT that our great leaders are allowing to happen every single day to every policy holder in this country. Don't live near water---just wait----another calamidy will strike you and the insurance company will not pay you either. Don't believe it? Read some of the blogs from people in other areas of the country where the insurance companies are trying some of the same tactics that they have been allowed to use for years along the Gulf Coast. Can't happen to you? Wake up America. Our country has been sold to the highest bidder (insurance, oil and pharmacutical companies so far).

The above statement is true... and if you want flood insurance, you have to buy if through your insurance agent, but you are buying it from the U.S. Gov. and it very cheap.

Yes, we all have a deductible. 250.00 and up.

If you do not understand you policy, I would have an attorney read it. Most of the policies are the same.

I live on the MS Gulf Coast and the insurance companies are giving these people grief that you would not believe. Was it water of wind that left them a slab to live on.

My retired agent told me that Allstate is no longer writing or rewriting policies in a lot of places. They no longer want NY,MS, CA, LA, TX and the list goes on and on. Thy are in fear that a 3 or better will hit NY/Long Island and then Allstate will be up a creek with the rest of us.

The oil companies and the insurance companies run this country and they prove it everyday!!

Hello i am from New Orleans. I stumbled across your website. Just wanted to let you know Allstate paid all my claims in a very timely manner. I had flood, homeowners, 4 autos, and two rental properties. All were damaged by the storm and each were paid to my satisfaction. Thanks for your website for postings.

Satisfied Allstate customer for over 50 years.

Regardless Allstate sucks- and I use to work for this crappy company- they wanted the customer service reps to lie and tell customers their claim would be paid in 10-15 business days what a bunch of liars- They have an office in Jacksonville Florida and I am sure many people can relate as policy holders how awful the service is. That is why I quit. Their managers have highschools degrees (at best).

Because if you had read through the exclusions page, you would have seen that the following exclusion applies and overides any endorsement. " this policy will not cover water, standing or moving whether wind driven or not". This is to make the hurricane coverage and deductible to apply towards "wind" and not towards water. If this exclusion was not included there would be no reason for "flood" coverage.

This would be why they tell you to read your "ENTIRE" policy cover to cover. You only read as far as what's "included" which is why you are confused now.

Pfffff Probably works for Allstate as their home office is in Northbrook. But you people need to get a life. If you had the mental capacity to read and UNDERSTAND your policy you would not have these problems.

I know how you feel Boo Hoo. People are always so quick to complain about insurance but when offered explanations and solutions, they just ignore you and go on complaining.

I work for a different insurance company and I haven't heard anything good about AllState. In their defense, while the wording in the exclusion could be confusing, it's still not theft. The cost for the additional coverage was acturarially priced for the coverage allstate believed they were covering. Blame the crappy sue-happy legal environment that forces insurance companies to come up with policies so convoluted that their own employees need lawyers to explain what actually is covered.

If insurance costs were around 10.00 a month people's complaining would be cut by 90%. However, costs are like they are because attorneys are submitting $25,000 demands on claims that are worth 1,000. And don't get me started on chiropracters.

I was run over by a transport truck who failed to make a safe right hand turn. I could easily been killed and have found out that the same driver had previously done this. My insurance Co. agreed with his that I was to blame until I contacted a highly reputable Driver Training School who went to bat for me. Blaming me absolved THEM of any liable suit. $$$$$ in either of their pockets was why. YOU WILL LOSE ALLSTATE BELLY UP BEFORE THIS DRIVER KILLS ONE OF YOUR CHILDREN

I am pissed with the rising rates and hearing of insurance companies trying to get out of paying claims.
But my own personal experience with allstate has been ok. Paid on 2 claims, 1 was a pain in the ass, fought tooth and nail to get what I needed to fix the house, but eventually got it. You need to play hardball with them and don't cave in and take what they offer if it isn't good enough. Make an official complaint with the dept. of insurance in your state. I know in Ca. its gets their attention real quick.
