RE: LINCOLN LUNCHES
FAVORITES
Amber Chicken and Donuts, Encino at s.w. corner of Balboa and Burbank Blvd. across from the park - w/plenty of parking -- LUNCH WITH A BEAUTIFUL VIEW
my favorite place and I love the chinese family who own and operate, esp. "auntie" --
under $5: really tender chicken nuggets (6 ) and enough left for a drink and tax - also near $5 are lots of healthy broasted chicken choices, also good fried cod w/ salad choice.
Panos Charbroiled Burger, Van Nuys right off the Orange Line stop at Victory and Woodley -- new owners actually have a better menu than the original Greek owner
We love this place for one of the best burgers in town -- a combo burger/fries/drink $4.99
also under $5 is a good Greek salad and drink
BEEPS Van Nuys -- Sherman Way at Woodley (n.e. corner) parking is tight but always a space
was a drive-thru many years ago - they have their old menu and 50 juke music, w/ a small outdoor patio (smoking OK) lots of under $5 -- huge menu incl. burgers, burritos, sandwiches, breakfast anytime -- big portions and well made (not fast food)
LUCYS Van Nuys - corner of Woodman and Victory -- they almost always display a banner offering a whole chicken (w/ 2 salad choices) for $4.99 - drinks extra --(If two share the chicken there's still $ for drinks and dessert too) a really pretty little restaurant w/ large T.V.- family owned, really nice people - plentiful portions and tops in friendly service
will try:
BIGGEST BARGAIN:
Eastern Palace Chinese Restaurant - 14429 Victory Blvd.- www.easternpalace.net
They are advertising a Daily Lunch Special (dine-in only) for $4.75 -(details in restaurant)
MANY KABOB WRAPS NEAR THE VAN NUYS COURTHOUSE AREA for $4.49 lunch (maybe you can brink your own drink!)
House of Pita at 6322 Van Nuys Blvd.- good luck parking, maybe on nearby side streets are ok.
Housing
Tips for taming the spending beast
First, Hubby and I got whopped by taxes. Then our credit card bill came in higher than usual.
