A 'prestigious' place to live?

I read, with great interest and a bit of humor, the advertisement for apartment rentals at Franklin Court in North Adams.

Roads are a problem.. the brick facade falling off the back of building #7 is a problem.. the water intrusion into buildings is a problem.. mold... most of the roof gutters removed.. a manager who takes advantage of and intimidates his older tenants.. how many garages has he confiscated for his personal equipment??

60 apartments x $750 =$45,000 per month =$540,000 per year!!! where is that going??

Our mayor probably has his eye on this property too.

Will make some cute little apartments, for all the artist.(First we need to sell it to the friendly developers).

There will be a little problem fitting everyone in the Holiday Inn. Perhaps the Porches will be available.

As for the section 8 - all landlords are required to accept it.. so if Franklin Court is telling you no.. they are in violation. It would not be the first time. The owner has been in court and fined for not accepting section 8 tenants in the past.

I wonder if all these new artist lofts/apartments in North Adams will be accepting section 8? Based on what you said I guess they will have to.

as for section 8.. indeed alot of people are hard working and just need some help.. The artists lofts are condos, not rentals. do your homework and don't be so judgemental

A few years back the Transcript had a front page story about an old lady who was loseing her section 8.At first it tugged on your heart strings and then when you read the article it said she has two daughters and each of them gets section 8. Any reason they can't all live in one place and maybe work at flipping burgers to pay the rent? Why are the tax paying people being asked to provide free houseing?

We should be telling the starving artist the same thing.
Giving someone free money cause they make less than 41,000 (because their considered starving artists) is ridiculous.

Just another form of public assistance. I agree with the song, "GET A J.O.B"

franklin court is not section 8.....it's old but it is still in fair condition....not something i'd call "prstigous" but at one time it was....in today's economy maybe it will become section 8...they could use some new roads going in there.....maybe the city and the town of clarksburg should take them over...mcclaign serves a number of taxpaying propety owners in clarksburg.....

You are right. There are some that need and deserve a helping hand. Unfortunately there are so many that abuse the system.

I would be curious to hear from anyone who has been turned down at Franklin Court because they are section 8... once again.. legaly they can't refuse it... from what I hear Section 8 will not pay the security deposit.. which is a reason that Franklin Court has few or no section 8 tenants.. just too expensive for someone struggling to get by
