All we'll have left is Wal-Mart and the big club chains. Then they can start jacking up their prices.

"They all have continuity of management," said Flickinger, managing director of New York-based Strategic Resource Group. "These are people who are born and raised in the company instead of executives who are more focused on taking care of themselves than taking care of their team or their consumers.
That's SEARS in a nut shell.... |

This just proves that most Americans, including many reading this article and on-line paper, are nothing more than cheap & selfish.
"I won't pay the REAL cost of something: why should I when I can pay for a cheaply made, disposable version, made on the backs of poor foreigners who aren't aware of the real value of their work. It's not MY fault that their country's elite take advantage of and abuse them. Who cares!!! They are far away from me, and I need my 900 thread-count, California-king sheets at a price of $29.99 or less, regardless. The quality made products are way too expensive and I want to keep up with trends and "The Jones".....I want it made cheap so when I throw it in a landfill next year I won't feel like I've thrown money away. And shopping at the local-owned shops and small businesses; they're just rip-off artists. They don't give good service and what do I really need with service anyway. It just adds to the price. I want it cheap! Who cares if these old tradition shops go out of business; that's progress, innovation and the way of better business" And all of you want all this.....that is until YOUR parents'/family's/friends' store or restaurant goes under due to "progress & better business".....all of you don't mind this until it's YOUR job being outsourced to one of those foreign countries where the production work you used to do has been sent, because people EXACTLY LIKE YOU have demanded that what you worked to make be made cheaper so that YOU can have it that way.....but why should you worry? You have all the latest and greatest in your home and you got it for $9.99..... |

And leading the way in losses is Macy's with $4.8 billion!!! Three to four years after the destruction of great store brands across the country, where are the cost savings? What a huge mistake getting rid of Marshall Field's and others. This chart shows that it is Macy's that is struggling a lot more than any other chain, even in the bad economy.

Here's a revolutionary 4th of July idea!
Just stop buying all this Chinese crap and insist on a few necessary goods that are quality and made close to home. This would start a trend--called economic independence. It worked back in the 1700's. |
