Bicycle crash kills Akron man

This might sound terrible to sat, but he sounds like he was a cool grandpa. At least he was involved with his grandkids.

I feel sorry for the kids for having to see this. Best wishes to the family.

I agree. I'm sure that means they will miss him all the more.

It is horrible. Shame he could not survive.

This is aweful. They were making great memories together and now the kids will remember this. so sad to hear this story. Regards to the family

He sure did sound like an involved grandparent. It was his birthday and he was enjoying the day; so sad it ended so tragically.

I've found that the media (tv and newspapers) usually don't note the use of safety equipment (helmets or seatbelts) when the person was injured or died but they SURE DO mention it when the person didn't use them and was injured or died.

Why? Wouldn't the best legacy a deceased can leave in this world be information that might save another person's life?

As a motorcyclist, I GREATLY appreciate when family member of a rider who perished in a wreck speaks openly of how and why their accident happened.

If I ever perished in a MC wreck - I'd consider it a great honor if my mistake(s) that lead to that wreck were able to be used to teach another rider how to avoid it. JMHO

I am so sorry to hear of this Becky and Bill! I love you guys so much and it is ridiculous to read some of the ignorant comments left by people who have no clue what actually happened at that time. This is my cousin's father n law, these children witnessed this and they have to live with this the rest of their life. Please people there is family involved in all of this and it is hard right now to deal with this!

The guy sounded like he was a great father and grandfather. What memories they will have of the guy even tho he accidentally died helmet or no helmet. Wish i had memories like that of my grandfather or father. Peace be with you.

Wow - what a tragedy! Deepest sympathy to the family.

My first thought after reading about this tragedy (after sadness) was "wow, what a wonderful grandpa this man must have been." I would bet that you all have wonderful memories to comfort you. I'm so sorry for what you're going through.
