FDA Panel OKs Truvada for HIV Prevention

Truvada, a once-daily antiretroviral pill, is effective for preventing sexual transmission of HIV and should be approved as post-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, a Food and Drug Administration advisory committee voted last week.

Insurers already cover it since FDA has approved its use as pre-exposure prophylaxis since 2011. The drugmaker even rebates the copay.

Since everyone is required to have health insurance (or pay a fine), it's covered under Obamacare, Medicaid, Medicare and employer-based insurance. There's no reason why any non-monogamous man who has sex with men wouldn't be able to both get a prescription and not have cost be a barrier.
