Mr. Plusquellic, would it satisfy you if you leveled Akron first then started from scratch?

Your right Mayor Akron needs change. The first is you out of the city. Then we can rebuild our police department, safty forces and schools that you and the Democratic regeme has destroyed.

We need a change from supporting the lazy welfare people that do not try to advance themselves and live off the tax payers of the community.

We need to get councilmen like Summerville out of office so that the criminals will know Akron is not a good place to prey on the working people.

Changing the political envirnment would deeply help Akron.

Thanks for making Akron a worse place to like Mayor Don

The change starts at the top. The people of Akron need to vote out the DON and start over.

Who here has forgotten he just got re-elected? Apparently the majority approves of his agenda the last 20 years.

Isn't some rational person going to clip Proenza's wings?

We've all seen Fingerhut's proposal for changes to Ohio's universities and colleges. The plan has been widely well-received and will likely be implemented.

And, most importantly, it calls for a scaling back and down-sizing of many places, including Akron. Yes, Akron's stronger academic programs, which are very few in number, are likely to remain; however, ultimately, once Fingerhut's plan is fully implemented, Akron will be a shell of its former self.

Proenza needs to accept this reality and revise his building plans accordingly.

He is behaving nothing short of grossly irresponsible.

What about Akron's crime? If people can stand in a line for hours, for a 23 cent pizza, how come the same people can't work? The city of Akron is becoming a dying city.

I wasn't referring to that merger, the idea for which Fingerhut scrapped. I'm referring to the formal proposal Fingerhut has made--not some notion he was kicking around and then discarded.

king don seems to forget that there's more to akron than downtown, UA, goodyear and summa...hard to believe, but there ARE other parts of the city...

downtowns are no longer the centerpiece of city life that they once used to be, but he doesn't realize that....

and why does the city just bend over backwards for UA?? it's good to support universities, but akron goes too far in what it does for UA....i guess don is looking for a position there after he leaves his 'mayorship' position....

And if we taxpayers are expected to keep funding your visions, Sponge Don, all we'll have left out here is pocket change.

By the way, what did you bring back from your worldwide excursion for us this time?

Yep, the state is going to scale back a state school that went through 100's of millions of dollars in investments that was approved by the state. Plus the University of Akron has a larger Endowment then Kent, CSU, YSU. Sorry friend, the University of Akron is where the state is investing in higher education for NEO. Because it has the largest return on investment of all the schools in the state.
