That was FAST!!!!! Can't wait until it opens, I'm sure it will do better than Janes did (Food Lions prices are always better than Janes were) Do we know if they will be expanding the store or any plans for a strip mall to go in (most if not all Food Lions have other stores in a strip mall type setting) Welcome to Mercersburg Food Lion!!!!

Don't hold your breath... nothing new ever comes to Mercersburg. We should be lucky the historic society didn't scare Food Lion away.

Now C-mon people..
I'm Sure "Jane" ran somebody out of town when she set up shop, don't ya think?
Either your community moves forward, stagnates, or contracts....
I'm sure all who call your town home want expansion.
Those who don't I'm sure are prepared to pay for the expanse of government on their own?

One thing that should be better is there will be more to choose from as far as products. Hopefully it works out for them. I'll still probably go across the mountain to Giant for most things though.

Food Lion meat is pretty good now. THey have really upgraded their meat department. How can anyone afford to shop at Giant. THeir prices are so much higher than food lion or walmart. They have great selection but you are paying a big price for more stuff to choose from

One thing I've noticed - Food Lion "Store band" is not as good as the Jane's "ShureFine" store brand. ShureFine products are much higher quality...closer to the "name" brand...IMO

The very few times I even shopped at Food Lion, some of the employees weren't the best workers, so maybe they just weeded them out. I am excited for Food Lion. Janes was too expensive & lack of products.

I'm not areal fan of Food Lion , because they usually beat me to the fresh road kill. I hate when their trucks kill it and then stop in front of me and then throw it in the back of the truck. I've lost some really good venison and a few possum to them.

That's a relief. Those snot nosed kids working the cash registers were a big turn off for me. Rude and acted like you were interrupting their private conversations if you expected them to check you out. A lot more professionalism would be appreciated.

As the father of one of the former FULL TIME Jane's employees, I just loved the way Food Lion screwed the FULL TIME people, not offering jobs to those with SMALL CHILDREN who only could work set hours because of having to take care of SMALL CHILDREN. What a family oriented company this is. You can bet it will be a long, long, long time until I shop at this store!!!!!!!

Don't know about the employees being hired by Food Lion, but I have to agree that some of the kids who were working the evening hours seemed very annoyed that I came through their line with my purchases while they were at work... According to a friend of mine who works at a Chambersburg Food Lion, the company will expand the Mercersburg store in the spring. Too late in the fall/to close to winter to start now. I am SO glad we will have something other than Jane's. That store knew it was the only game in town and kept prices higher than needed to be. Hopefully the produce will be fresher than what was at Jane's... and hopefully the store will be brighter! As far as the "store brands" go, I'm not sure, but I think that store brands are all about the same... CHEAPER but good quality!!

It's most likely because they have longer hours of operation and people work differant shifts all the time and most likely the people with kids couldn't work the swinging shifts. I have 1st hand expierance at this one especially with this company since a relative of mine has the same issue and has to rely on a bunch of people to help her out. Hope it works out for your child.
