Our Country care about the hungry and trodden people of the world??? That's a laugh!! We can't even provide universal healthcare or higher education for our own people!! I'm going to be paying back student loans the rest of my life. What are we doing to help the people of Darfur?? Speaking out for what you believe in and being a thinking person is very patriotic and responsible. We should question our president and other officials. If we don't we are like sheep being led to slaughter. I wish more people had questioned and rejected Hitler's ideology...maybe they could have saved a few thousand lives. I have rejected George W's ideology from the beginning. We are in a war that has cost many lives and will continue to cost more human life. There is no easy way out, we have helped to create a civil war. We have imposed our western values, politics and religion on people didn't ask for our help or our way of life. How arrogant of this administration to invade a civilization as old as time and impose western ideology. Natalie and the Chicks are the true patriots in all of this...they questioned and spoke out. I can not wait until 2008!

I forgot to inform you in my previous post of a little known fact......9/11 was instrumented by Osama Bin Laden and Al Quida, NOT Sadamn and Iraq. By the way, we still don't have Osama (or even know of his whereabouts) After all, Daddy Bush didn't have a beef with Osama. Why are we in Iraq?? Oil,$$$, and revenge for Daddy Bush. So you're entitled to have everything for free, including healthcare and higher education? I think you may want to move to a socialist country and see how it feels to have inadequate healthcare (hence everyone coming here for top notch & extensive procedures & treatments), have a lower standard of higher education (hence foreign students coming to US for college, including terrorists), and having to stand in line for staples that you take for granted here. I think its funny how people can come on here and call Reba white trash!!! Please someone explain it to me caue I just dont see it!! She has amazing songs that actually have a meaning behind them...and people are saying that they are throwing away her cds because she said some thing that was written for her! They say that she shouldnt have said any thing but you think that people shouldnt hate the Dixie Chicks because they have a right to express their freedom of speech....does that not include Reba or the writers of the award show!! As you can probably see I am not a BIG fan of the Dixie Chicks and I found it to be extremely rude that they said they wouldnt want to even be in the same cd player as Reba or Toby Keith they could have just kept that to themselves or not named names....did they really think that would help gain fans by putting down other artists?

Let's see, we reacted to Natalie's free speech with our free speech, yet we are condemned because you don't agree with it. Then you say they didn't deserve the death threats, which of course they didn't. I'm sure there are nut jobs in Australia, too. Then you say you hope we can't sleep at night for not buying dixie chix CD's or going to their concerts. You need to quit contradicting yourself.

OK, it wasn't necessarily what she said, it was when and where she said it. Our president is also the military's Commander-in-Chief. And I can guarantee you that they respect him a lot more than our former president, Bill Clinton. Our troops were already over there (including my stepson and his wife) fighting and Natalie went to a foreign country and denounced our president. I don't agree with everything Bush has done, I'm not just a blind follower, but I do think that during a time of war you should show a united front to the world. My stepson said it made things worse over there (as if it could be worse) because it brought morale down, it caused security to be elevated to a point where they couldn't leave their base for weeks, and it was all unnecessary. We were already worried about them coming home alive in the first place. I wasn't an avid fan of the Dixie Chicks prior to the incident, but I liked a few of their songs and had a CD or two of theirs. But let me ask you something, if it isn't such a big deal, why do you think there still such a strong reaction to it in the States three years later? It makes me angry when people say such stupid things. Why does it matter where she said it? And, why should we show a united front to the world? We aren't all on the same team here. There are those of us who want violence to stop and then those who are convinced that killing innocent people should happen on a daily basis. If we aren't united, then why lie to the rest of the world. You can like your life and like your country but you don't have to like everything about your country. Also, if you don't support the president it doesn't mean the you don't support the troops. I don't understand why it's one or all with some people. And, not supporting the war doesn't mean that you don't support the troops. It would seem to me that not wanting people to die would be more humane than supporting a war that would kill people- thousands of people. As far as morale goes, she said that she was ashamed of the president, not the troops. The president and the troops are two different entities with thousands of different opinions. If I hear the lame excuse that everyone is exercising free speech by not buying their cd's and etc., I am going to scream. Bottom line, they took the fall for those who say the same things and worse without consequence. The thing that ex-fans and people like you don't get is that they don't care if you don't like them. They are building a new audience. And Jen, on a personal level, I want your son and his wife to come home safely. I want this war to be over.
