Hello All,
I've finally decided to recreate a few rooms in my home and was thinking about purchasing some of my furniture online, but I'm still alittle hesitant... I've heard a lot of horror stories but also have a friend who ordered a bedroom suite online and had a good experience. What is the best way to go? Online or stick with in-store only? |

Unless you do not care about quality, and/or believe everything you read in an online furniture advertisement, go ahead and buy online.
OF COURSE support your local Mom and Pop local furniture store! |

There are several situations in which buying online is likely to have an OK outcome.
A: You have seen the same product in person at a friend's house or in a showroom and verified the quality of materials and workmanship. B: The item you are buying is a name brand that has few customer complaints online (always Google the manufacturer - you would be surprised at how disappointed people are with some of the "big name" supplies out there). C: The vendor offers a 100% moneyback guarantee and has a reasonable/affordable returns policy. If you are thinking about buying online simply to save money, you might be better off purchasing locally refurbished items. That way, you get verifiable quality along with cost savings. Thanks for the advice. And I certainly agree with Furniture Guy, we should support our local mom and pop furniture stores.

It all comes down to trust. When making your purchase you have to trust the retailer to sell you a product which meets your expectations, and you have to trust they will be there in the future should any problems arise. Web retailers these days offer 12 month gaurantee's on quality furniture products.
My friend has only just started his business. Please visit www.lybahs.co.uk . They offer a "white glove" delivery service. The furniture is taken to the room of your choice and your waste is removed. Many Thanks |
How can you trust an online retailer if you have no one to actually talk or meet in person. How do you know they will be around 10 minutes after getting your credit card? a brick and mortar store is there for you to go into and meet the people and talk to them interact, etc. Yeah, right..."my friend" just opened an online store. Wow, the delivery guys actually bring the furniture inside for you. Isnt that what they are supposed to do? Get real! |

From my understanding a lot of furniture stores hire out their delivery teams anyways, which I suppose can make a big difference in the quality of the delivery service.
So when it comes down from ordering from a store online, I guess I'll have to do a little more research into the furniture lines they carry, which delivery team they use and how they accept payment. Anything else I should be on the lookout for? |
Yes! Forget what furniture lines they carry. That tells you nothing. Ask about the quality. Make sure there is no particle board, plywood or engineered hardwood. Only solid wood frames. Also ask about the springs. what type are they are they hand tied? Ask about the type of foam is is a High Resiliency? |

There are any number of ways to check into the online furniture dealer. You can check the local Better Business Bureau. Also make sure they have a brick & morter building. We have sold furniture online for years & have outlasted some of the big guys from High Point.

Well to be very frank .. you must buy furniture from the store because there are very few sites which provides you with good furniture.
But still I recommend you to buy furniture directly from the store. |

Just make sure you ask all the right questions, is the furniture flat pack or assembled? What is the furniture made of, particle board, MDF or solid wood? How is the furniture finished laminate finish or real wood veneer? Check online reviews and make sure other users had a good experience and you should be fine. I can recommend www.orderbeds.co.uk as a good online retailer to deal with.

1. I agreed that we have to support our local stores BUT it is usual situation when we could not find some specific design or model shopping locally. There is not a secret that online furniture stores are much more flexible than local furniture stores.
2. Quality... Well, are you sure that "SEEING THE ITEM IN PERSON" will guaranty you quality??? You have to be an expert in furniture production industry... That is usually a PRICE FACTOR which pointed to the high or low quality product. Not always but in most cases. 3. Always check online for revives (for boss local and online stores), if it is no negative or some positive revives - be free to buy from this place, avoid stores with tons of negative revives. From my personal experience: MIG Furniture www.modern1furniture.com have grate line of modern furniture and grate service, i also shop from www.wayfair.com , some other stores (usually accessories) and honestly never have a problem, just pay a fair price to receive some quality item or do not be surprised and do not complain if you are about to by some DIRT CHEAP furniture. |

Here in the UK at least, it's important to remember that your rights as a consumer buying online are the same as those if you were to walk into a furniture store (say) off the street.
Recently you may have seen a story in the national news (I saw on BBC @ http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-19910561 ) about some high-street stores not adhering to the statutory rights of consumers in their terms & conditions on their e-commerce websites, especially in relation to their returns policies. This should have acted as a stark reminder to all online retailers as to their obligations to their customers, and hopefully reassured members of the public like yourself that shopping online carries the same protection as on the high street in terms of statutory rights. You need to be careful which retailer you choose, I would recommend searching for the company name in Google followed by "Reviews". This should give you a good idea as to how reputable the business is and the service you could expect. One retailer which I've had good dealings with is National Furniture, their website is: http://www.nationalfurniture.co.uk n8st |

Hi, you know what, sometimes, it's not about choosing the wrong furniture, but having the furniture ordered and NOT knowing how to set it up. One you have your furniture picked, might as well spend a little extra on a profession assembling service. There are companies like http://www.americandirectlogistics.com who will assemble all sorts of furniture and equipment in your homes.
