I signed up for a free 30 day membership through them. I can only spend $1000 there. It's ok, but they charge so much for shipping and "such." I don't know if I'm really getting a good deal. I think it would be a mistake to pay for a membership unless you are building a house. It's just not likely that the $6000 membership fee will be worth it otherwise. It all sounds so good, but probably is just a bunch of hype.

Keep in mind that even if you are building a house, you have to get estimates from the contractors that db reccomends.
DB will not guarantee or warranty the contractor,
DB will not protect you &/or help you to resolve any disputes with the contractors, because they are sub-contracted by DB.
In other words, the contractor can do & say anything they want, & charge whatever they feel like, with no consequenses.
There are many horrific examples on
"directbuy complaintwire-don't make our mistake"
Contractors refuse to refund for excess materials they have ordered
DB would not help the member to get a refund for the extra money charged to them by the contractor.....
Contractors often do not put down all the detailed break down of their costs......& them they screw you in the middle of the job,
by saying that you need more work & want more money.

The other great privilege you have, is you get to pay in full for contractor mistakes, WHEN THEY PURPOSELY MEASURE WRONG,
ORDER WRONG MATERIALS ON PURPOSE,
FORGET TO PUT ORDERS IN,
You are not allowed to price compare .....
IT'S SICKENING & THEY KNOW THAT THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT ...
DB----DON'T DO IT
USE POOR QUALITY MATERIALS
& DO NOT COMPLETE THE JOB, WHEN THEY SAY THEY WILL.....

I'm so happy that my membership has expired! It is a complete scam - I wish someone sued them for false advertising!!! Currently they advertise "great" discounts on home appliances - when I was trying to buy an iron - I had to fight with them over every single charge, and only after they dropped one of the handling charges I was able to get the same price as in JandR store! When in got to the point of ordering the stove (high end $2K Italian one)- I had to get if through Home Depot - they were giving me better price and less additional charges!!! When I just joined the "CLUB" the first thing they admitted to was that they would not be able to provide great discounts on home appliances... so I suffered with embarassment of being a member for 3 years! I have other examples - which prove complete false advertising!
Please let me know if someone will actually deside to sue Direct Buy!!!

Most people are saying DirectBuy is a scam. To be honest I have been doing some research and had thought to join but I think we all just to shop around. There is never one single place that has the best of everything; price and products. Sometimes I find products better in smaller stores than a huge chain...

It's been a minute since I've been on the board, but it seems that people are still whining, moaning, and complaining. There is so much great information on here that no one needs to repeat their folly time and again. We know that DirectBuy is a scam. We know you have to fight to get your money back. We know many things, but do you people listen and read what has already been said? My god...how did you people even find this site to begin with...and why didn't you Google DirectBuy to begin with before you went in? Didn't the dozen calls from the company before your visit even tip you off that something might be wrong
Do your research!
If your so tough, why don't you go in there yourself & experience the high pressure & lies, so that you can show some compassion for others who have been scammed. Maybe you might consider helping someone else instead of criticizing.

If you really did your research, you would have found out about the non-stop class-action suits that have been launched all over the States, & they are working on a National class-action suit. They are one of the proudest criminal organizations in North America, & it's too bad that you take this so casually & don't try to help by warning others.

I know it is a scam. It was nearly impossible for me to sell any memberships because I couldn't believe people would actually buy them. And when someone did buy one I felt sorry for the person, knowing that in three days they would be regretting it and asking for a refund. You are paying a membership fee for buying more stuff. Do people have brains? How can you sell something that is such a rip-off? I know I couldn't do it, nor would I want to. I have morals. It is like a cult, beware!

I worked at direct buy for approximately one month in Long Beach, California. I cannot say it is all bad because people have to make money somehow. Suppose people are all different and the membership can be positive for some.

Just thought I would let everyone know that the "buy now or be banned forever" line is so not true. I did my research before going to 5 DB stores. I knew about the complaints and had no intention of becoming a member. All I wanted to do was see if I could get in after walking out of the previous stores. Sure enough, I was allowed to walk in at all five stores. Of course, they were located in different towns, but nontheless, I was not banned. I did not change one thing about my personal information. Each and every visit prompted the, "Buy now or never come back!" line. At the fifth store, I laughed at the guy and told him I had been to 3 previous stores. You should have seen the look I got! Needless to say, I was told to leave immediately and that my name would be put on the "list". Well, I just couldn't let it go, so I decided to try one more time, just to see what would happen. Guess what??? I was welcomed with open arms. So this whole bit about buy now or risk losing out is just not true. If this is something you really want to think about, walk out, thing about it, and if you still want to join, go to another store or wait a few months and try it again at the same store. I never did try to go back to the same store, but I just might do that!!! I am always up for a challenge!
BTW...it is all the same spill, just different membership prices. Some employees were nice, others not so nice. The nice ones, I gave told them no and walked out. The not so nice ones, I played the "let me think about it, I need to go to the bathroom, I need a drink of water, game. Anything to use up their time. Hey, I had nothing else to do, so why not play games with the jerks!

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Scorpio

The thought of the sales is almost too good to resist today, and you'll jump at the chance to see what's on offer. Even better if you can snap up some bargains at the same time. It's certainly a good day for investing your money carefully, but make sure you aren't more seduced by the reduction in the cost of something than in the item itself. Are you certain that you want to buy it?
