These people are enraged, all right. They should have thought about it before cashing on that equity or buying something they couldn't afford to begin with. Now they are not just losing their homes, they are also facing charges for trashing them. Lock them up, at least they'll have a place to live!

Exactly, these people made bad decisions when buying, and then they throw a tantrum when the easy money plan does not work out. What a bunch of babies.

THANK YOU!!! I'm a very sympathetic person, but I'm sick of hearing how lenders/people/government/Sant a Claus should help out in this situation. Especially with people like this! Look, YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT! I have been renting for ten years and hating it because it seemed everyone around me was buying homes. I was jealous and thought, these people don't make much more than I do, yet I can't afford to buy. Sure, I could do interest only for a few years, but what if I DON'T get a raise or otherwise increase my income substantially? And how will I make the payments if interest rates go up? I say this only because I know I'm not the only one in this situation. While wondering "why them not me" in terms of affording a $450,000 home, they couldn't afford it either! Vandalism is a CRIME! Stop boo hoo hooing for these (not all facing foreclosure, but the scum in this story)low life, self absorbed, entiled rats.

Hell in a Handbasket. Go buy now or wait for a few more months and you'll get a house you not only can afford but it's a buyers market. I haven't put my hand on who's to blame for this mess. I tend to lean towards the home(owner), and I use "homeowner" loosley since they never owned the home from day one, since they signed on the dotted line KNOWING the risk if interest rates soared on their adjustable rates. You buy what your budget can afford at that time, and like us, we have no worries of losing our home because we did not buy more house than we could afford!

I am meeting my younger sister at the real estate office today to make an offer on her first home. It's a lovely 1700 sq ft, 4 bedroom, 2 bath with a pool in Manteca. Listed at under $180,000. Not everyone is upset by this downturn in the market. New buyers and smart investors have some golden opportunities.

How about tracking down these angry tenants and taking their sorry you know what's to court. Maybe throw on an additional penalty for purposely damaging someones property. If their so upset with their stupid landlord who can't pay their bills maybe they should buy their own house. Better yet buy a couple and try renting to jerks like yourselves.

Sadly, I suspect it comes down to minimizing loss. Probably less expensive to sell the property as-is and take a known loss than to pursue it for months or years in our already-clogged civil courts.

We looked at some bank-owned homes way back in the early '80s, and just like the old saying, one former owner even took the kitchen sink.

Based on their response, these people don't DESERVE to own a home and should be put in jail. Vandalism is a crime.

Those former homeowners deserve to be sleeping in their car provided that the repo man doesn't take the car back.

Then they can sleep under a freeway.

How low class ghetto can you get? Trashing a house that was formerly your pride and joy. Ghetto Behavior at its worst.

They are angry they are being "Forced Out"? Did the bank refuse to accept their mortgage payment?? mmmm, not likely. They refused to pay or be responsible, they are the ones who forced themselves out of their home, they should be vandalizing their own possesions and thanking the bank for giving them a chance to screw up. I know of someone who just didn't like the negiborhood anymore so they stopped paying, bought big TV's and when the notice got taped to the door rented a brand new beautiful house in another area....that's lame and it's hurting everyone, accept them, they get to walk away scott free. They should be held liable for the debt somehow, maybe people would be more responsible if they didn't think they could just skip out.
just my opinion

Remeber, in order for a property to be foreclosed on takes OVER three months. Three months of not paying the mortgage. And believe me, they had many many warnings and notices explaining what was happening and what they needed to do to keep their home. Three + months of mortgage payments is a lot of money! WTF were they thinking? And who are they mad at? They need to take it out on themselves. Are they upset that the government and tax payers (living in modest, affordable homes, many rented)didn't come along and buy the house for them? Certainly we must owe them?!? At least the jerk kid who "takes his ball and goes home" doesn't trash the playground and steal the hoops on his way out. You people just suck. And btw, I do NOT mean regular folks who are struggling to make these high payments every month struggling to keep their homes. You guys I respect and feel badly for. But then many of you are likely working a lot of hours to get by and will see your property values go up in the near future. Hang in there.
