Jeff , of JND Plumbing, Inc. got a check for about 63% but not before signing a paper stating they were paid in full, Jeff wrote on the paper that work is not warrenty, all the contractors had to sign one before they were given checks. These guys have lost lots of money even theough Tim Leveque of the Monterey County Bank said to the contractors they would get paid I will see a copy of what he signed this afternoon. Thanks
Why build a pool if you can't afford to fill it with water and then strong arm the contractors to take less then full payment after being told they would all get paid by the bank who took over the payments. The guys were told that if they wanted to change the terms of the waiver that they could speak to the banks attorney, if they didn't sign the waiver they were not going to get paid and most were only paid about 63%. JND Plumbing, Inc. will not warreny any work due to not being paid in full and this was written on the waiver. These guys worked hard to meet the dead line so Sunset could print their article yet the guys always had to wait for payment.Unfair business practice, gone are the days when a hand shake and your words mean anything.

Rabobank is suing more than just Mills and Woodman. Sounds like Monterey County Bank has some more explaining to do with the once local Bank of Salinas/Commuity Bank. This can't be only about feeling the pinch. Who pays this PR firm, whose client is also Monterey County Bank?

1.9 million starting price? Even in boom times that would be quite a stretch. Face it, the lenders and contractors are out of luck and will be lucky to get anything back.
Sad about the Mills brothers. Forty years building a viable farming business and reputation as pillars of the community, and then lose it all in their old age by greedily jumping into real-estate near the top of a bubble.

I agree with Bill T. The Mills brothers were good people - however, it is a shame that persons fortunate enough to have made enough money in their lives to be able to have possessed a lifestyle most people could only imagine would feel that obtaining yet additional wealth was necessary - as opposed to having been happy and satisfied with the "more than plenty" they already had.

This is another case of greed, negligence, misreprentation and fraud. It is interesting how decent people have ruined many lives. The reason the Mills have not declared bankrupcy is because all the moving of assets to their children would have to be returned under the 90 day rule. The crooks have the money to hire lawyers and public relations firms but do not have the decency to talk directly to the public. The eighty-five year old woman should really come forward and tell the story of what happened to her. What a outrage. When are the Mills going to be kicked out of Monterra, and out of town. What about the Chieftan smoke screen for Mills produce operation? More fraud!!! Hopefully some developer will step in and rescue this beautiful development and the current land and homeowners who had trust and vision to invest in a first class community!!

I have been conned out of my life savings by the Mill's brothers while they paid themselves and their families extrodinary salaries. I cannot leave my kids or grandkids money for their education. With the "promise of a personal guarantee" whatever that means I trusted in them to stand by their word. I cannot live in the home or keep the lifestyle that I am used to for the last thirty years. I have had to sell everything and have little left. I had trust and confidence in the Mills.....THEY....took advantage of their fiduciary positions and "superior knowedge" of the facts they promoted, and my naivete. I along with the many others have sustained financial ruination and have had my life as I knew it obliterated. My sense of worth and self-respect are destroyed!! through all of this, never an apology, letter of explanation or telephone call.
where oh where is their any help, let alone justice. I could really use an attorney, but the Mills have conviently hidden or transferred all of their assets to other family members or entitiles.....i.e. CHIEFTAN PRODUCE. I hope that I would gladly invite discussion to my situation.
Did the Mills pay their kids with my money? Yep, guess so. I pray for someone to really uncover the truth.

Rodger and Basil Mills, What a couple of bonehead crooks....There is no question that greed is the primary factor in this whole unfortunate situation they caused, Rabobank, retirement funds, contractors, additional banks, and the elderly all taken advantage of for the benifit of the mills to HIT THE REAL BIG ONE. Now that its a big flop, Armanasco, attorneys, bankruptcy, and other bloodsucking bottomfeeders will protect the millses as the situation for all creditors worsens.. Everyone knew that sunset idea house wouldnt work, another waste of time...mills ranch king city, another septic tank developement..........I hope Rodger and Basil rot in prison for everyone they F***** after that they can burn in hell....

Mills may have made some bad decisions but the ones who invested with them in the hopes of making the same killing have only themselves to blame for not doing their homework. Anyone who knows Monterey knows that Pasadera had not sold out yet after five years and it is less than five miles from Mills Monterra project on the same Road!

It's really sad how the local fish-wrappers have ruin the good reputation of Roger and Basil Mills. The Mills family has dedicated their lives and fortune helping others and this is the thanks they get? Like the axiom goes, "no good deed goes unpunished." My prayers are with the family.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Cancer

Hold it! You need to approach things in a calm, controlled manner today otherwise you're likely to get yourself into a state in no time at all. That's especially likely if you're trying to meet a deadline because you'll start to panic and then become all fingers and thumbs. You might also get extremely ratty with anyone who gets in your way or asks stupid questions. Come on, is that fair?
