But, at what cost? The problems with Freddie and Fannie are legion and this bill not only continues these problems, it puts the taxpayers on the hook with blank check to Fannie and Freddie. In addition, there is nothing to stop their lobbying, neoptism, and outright fraud.

I don't agree with this either, but a lot of public and private sector pension funds are tied into these mortgages. A lot of people may see their pensions disappear.
