Kim, standing on the front of the Chung Shi is an exercise, which will tighten the muscles in the calf that flex the foot & toes. If you stand on the toes too much you're over working the muscle groups causing fatigue. Try standing on the heel or rocking on them you'll straighten out your spine & pelvis, relieve pressure on your lower back knees and forefoot.

So can the Chung Shi shoes be resoled and, if so, what is the cost?

NO...The manufacture is looking for a way to provide this service though from what I understand.

Has anyone used the all weather chung shi boots on snow and ice - I am concerned about whether they are slippery?

I brought a pair of MBT, loved the shoe. They gave me a great workout, very comfortable and gave excellent support. However, after having them for about 4 months the soles started comimg apart. ie on the rt shoe. Would love to purchase them again but I am afraid of walking on the wrong surface and they will start to come apart again. For this reason, I will try the chung Shi shoe. When I walked in them in the store they gave me a wonderful work out.Until MBT is able to do something about the sole coming apart, I will take my chances with the Chung Shi

In addition, the following is an excellent link to test that was done this month in the UK that clearly demonstrates the superiority of the MBT over the Chung Shi:

I went to the link, but the site did not "clearly demonstrate the superiority of the MBT over the Chung Shi". It gave the same basic marketing info that I've seen plastered everywhere. I was hoping for some sort of comparison of the two shoes that would give me an indication of why one shoe is more beneficial to the wearer than the other shoe.

The debate rages on. I originally bought a pair of MBT's after reading many articles claiming them to be far superior to Chung Shi's. After wearing the shoes for 4 months I began to develop a lower back pain. When the opportunity arose to attend a seminar put on by a MBT trainer, I made sure to ask about the issue. I was told this was an unusual case, and that MBT in general reduce strain on the lower back. Several friends and family member have experience the same issue. I was introduced to the Chung Shi shoe shorty afterwards. I was reluctant to try them, but since the so called "Masai Sensor" was starting to fall apart already ($250 shoe falling apart after 6 months??), I decided to give them a try. Not only was the shoe much more comfortable, my back pain disappeared. I've also seen so far no noticeable wear on the shoes. All of my friends and family have now switched to Chung Shi's. I would highly recommend Chung Shi's over MBT's any day. They last longer, feel better, and truly eliminate problems in my body. Feel free to read the MBT sponsored study the people from Florida are recommending if you want, but take it from your real customers and enjoy a Chung Shi.

Where can you get MBT's resoled? I've called MBT and they said I need to find a secondary source to have this done?

I own and operate a Foot Solutions store. I'm a Certified Pedorthist. I sell both Chung Shi & MBT shoes. I wear both shoes. I love both shoes. I recommend both shoes for similar reasons. Most people who come into our store can benefit from each shoe. However I DO NOT recommended the MBT's for people with balance or vertigo problems. There is a risk of falling due to the soft "biscuit" in the heel (sensor which shouldn't be exposed to chemicals, fertilizers ect...) I've found most of my customers (70%) that can wear both choose the Chung Shi. Chung shi's are a 2000 mile shoe! Also, The MBT's CAN be resoled(approx $50-$75 call Foot Solutions).

I bought a pair of Chung Shi shoes and I love them. This is the best investment I have made in footwear. While MBT may be good shoes also, I just don't like the attempt by some websites to discredit Chung Shi shoes. It may not work for everyone, but I am sticking to it. I used to have foot pain; now they are gone. On top of that, my legs feel stronger.

I just got my Chung Shis from foot solutions - mostly over the MBTs since they didn't have any I liked in my size...and they also pushed the CS ones more to me. I got them 2 days ago - and walked in them yesterday about 1 hr, and today 2 hrs. I am aching now - but that work out ache.(I hope anyway!). I am going to wait and see but I might get the MBTs too for running around in and working since the Chung Shis were pleather and I didn't realise that at the time I handed over the dough...I also bought some Boost trainers which are sooo comfy....
The MBTs have a tonne more styles that you could wear with regular clothes. I am trying to get my hubby to get them to help his knee pain..

I lucked out and found brand new Chung Shi (hiking style) at a thrift store for $12!!!
I've had them for 2 months. I walk about 2 - 4 miles per day fro work and pleasure. I have an old ankle injury (shattered all bones in ankle while hiking).
I love the Chung Shi's. They have a very roomy toe box and once you get accustomed to the rocking motion, they are very stable and my feet do not fatigue like they used to.
I recently bought a pair of MBTs and had to return them as they caused blisters on my heel after just two wearings.
I wish the Chung Shi shoes were a bit more stylish. They really make my feet look HUGE but I cannot beat them for comfort on the job. I have even hiked with them in the mountains during light snowfall and they were fabulous! No slippage.

<quoted text>
As nobody has replied to you: If you are in America you can get them resoled at http://www.resole.com/
If in the UK, at http://www.bolton-bros.co.uk/
Hope that helps, Lisa

I get my MBTs at www.FeetFirstFitness.com which has great fitting guidance and excellent technical information that shows how the MBT is much superior to footwear that is just curved like the Chung Shi.
That's peculiar, I just went to the FeetFirstFitness.com to see what they had to say and noticed that due to quality concerns this company no longer sells the MBT line. Seems that when MBT management changed so did the quality of the shoes, for the worse. I have to thank you for this link as the new quality concerns are helping my decision to buy CS.

I bought the chung Shi level 2 shoe. I wore them for about 3 hours on two consecutive days. My feet and legs were so sore for over a week. I have plantar fascitis and was so hoping these shoes would help. Maybe I should have started with less time and built up slower. My feet are still somewhat sore even though I haven't worn the Chung Shi's for close to two weeks. Has anyone had this experience? Does anyone have any suggestions?

I own chung shi and absolutely won't wear anything else - don't care how ugly they are. I've never been so pain free in my feet, ankles, knees and hips. Have had them for 2 years and they continue to hold up and perform.

First of all, when you have problems with your feet, you should really build up in them. 20-40 minutes the first day, an hour to hour and a half the next, and so on. Also because you got the level 2 the shoes work your muscles about 4 times harder than regular shoes. Also, they are a lot more in the arch. Besides that, I hope you are wearing an arch support and not going bare foot. Good luck.

Hi
I have just received my pair of Chung Shi. I'm wearing it now and it feels very snug. Is this how it suppose to feel? I wear a UK size 3 and I order it online in that size. Should I have ordered the 3.5 size instead? I appreciate any feed back on the size. Thanks.

I agree I also have had my Chung Shi for over two years. I wear them to work everyday I stand all day. I do have sole inserts but I have never had a problem. It has helped bring the mucscles in my back to where they use to be. Also it has made my bottom better too! I just wish they could look prettier but that is just me
