Offering a "monitoring" service is grossly inadequate. These potential victims of identity theft need to have help restoring the damage this incident may cause for years to come. What happens when the two years are up? Does the lost personal identifying information vaporize? Since the victims social security number will stay with them for life (and beyond) they need permanent protection for life. For help, go to http://www.btr-security.com and learn how to protect your identity for free.

The impact of poor management is far reaching. Countrywide was poorly managed and engaged in unscrupulous business practices. The fact that they are under investigation for identity theft I am not surprised. Desperation breeds desperation.

ID theft by insiders in financial institutions is NOT limited to Countrywide. The same thing has been done by at least one employee of Bank of America. Safeguards are not in place to prevent bank employees from selling the personal information of customers to an "I.D. theft broker." Bank of America seems to be annoyed not by its own dishonest employees, but by its customers who complaint about having their personal information stolen and their financial reputations ruined by the very bank they had trusted with their money and their personal information. I base this statement on the experience of a member of my own family.

NO more, I work to hard to maintain a good credit profile, I am one of the consumers in question is there anyone that can give me advise on what I can do to make Countrywide pay for this? Is there a class action going I would love to make sure Countrywide is held accountable for their actions.

not too long ago Butte Community Bank "lost" a laptop with all it's customers private info on it. I guess the car was broken into for the computer. But oddly enough the identical thing happened in Brittain several times in just the same way. Makes me think bank tellers are selling peoples info on the black market. Needless to say I dont keep much money in banks any more

That was our worst nightmare. We were so afraid of being scammed like that that we saved up for 7 years and paid cash for our house. We were that worried about those rediculous loans. Im so sorry for you. Hope you can refinance

This is the bankers disrupting the Middle Class through computer terror.
They'll want bank fees to clean up the mess, and you'll be a submissive slave and happily pay when told to.
