Why would anyone who says they "need" the money pay a tax preparer a percentage of their refund to get it quicker? If you truly need the money why not either change your witholding so the government does not get an interest free loan from you or wait and get the entire refund you have coming to you. My mom used to work for H&R Block, and when they first came out with the rapid refund program she laughed and said "No one will be stupid enough to do this." Well, she was wrong, but that is a sad commentary on peoples' need for instant gratification.

With the interest rate H&R Block charges for these so called loans, you be crazy to agree to use these cards. You waited all these months to file a return and you could not wait a few more days for a check from the government?
Remember this is a loan from China $168 BILLION dollars and our kids, kids will have to pay it back with interest. I really do not think it will stimulate this country anyway, most people will use it to pay for the high price of gas, food or bills. Guess you could say the good news is that the government is already thinking about another so called stimulate check later this year. We all might just be working for China is a few years, ENTITLEMENTS, ENTITLEMENTS, ENTITLEMENTS, good old America will be just like the State of Michigan.
God Bless America.

The govt should spend that money on sending middle class and poor Americans to school to learn how to properly manage their finances.

Americans today have absolutely no concept of how to responsibly manage their money. Have $300 extra at the end of the month? By all means, run out and buy that cool new game console you MUST have.

This country is going to be so screwed when all these post-baby boomers and Gen-Xers are ready to retire.

Yeah because if we are smart like you then we won't buy anything exciting to enjoy the ONE life that we get to live. Set it all aside, right?

no. The stimulus check is from the federal goverment sent by the IRS. You had to file 1040a tax from this year, and make more than $3000 from a legitjob with a w-2 form, or recieve more than $3000 form socail security paymenjts. Property tax credits and heating credits are state and totally seperate and take aprrox 6 to 8 weeks after you sent them in. The stimulus payment is Federal (Irs)

Ok the fear factor is out again. When does the government do anything right? The only thing we have to fear is the government. Been wondering another thing. If the government does drug testing and the government paid reports says ALL drugs make ya stupid then how come we have some of the stupidist laziest people working for the government?

How about; manage your life and your finances and teach your children to take care of their business first, then enjoy life and stay out of other peoples affairs as ultimately you can only control YOURSELF and nobody else.

This convo wouldn't be possible without us nimno; we have ourselves given birth to future revolutionaries and world leaders and oh my gosh, possible future VIDEO GAME CONSOLE GRAPHIC DESIGNERS who make a fortune thank you.

Why are the democratic people so aganist receiving these checks? Have they been brain washed by their democratic leaders? Like, Send me your tax money while you die of hunger. In the mean time, out governor is flying around on our tax money. Blame George Bush for all the problems in this country. What happens when a democrat is in and cause this country to slide deeper. They say, "well we have to do this or ....." I used to be a democrat but I woke up. When are you?

Acutally, the government should make a living math course a mandatory class for all high school students.

I've seen a whole lot of baby boomers come through my office that have no retirement plans, no savings accounts, and are still mad that credit card interest isn't deductible. It doesn't matter how much people make, way too many live beyond their means.

You only need to look at the wide selection of the prices for homes in foreclosure to understand that this problem exists across such a wide spectrum.

As far as Refund Anticipation Loans or the ever popular Payday Loans goes. PT Barnum was right when he said that fools and their money shall soon part.

I can't believe that people pay such an inflated interest rate to get their own money a few days faster....THAT is why they need the money so quickly to begin with....poor money management.

Change your withholdings so you have more money in your pockey throughout the year.

E-file (it still costs money but a FRACTION of the cost of a loan...about $20) and you can get your money direct deposited in about a week.

Glad I don't have to worry about this...the government is bound to screw it up. These people will be lucky to ever see that money.

Help.... this is so confusing, for a family who could really use this money to help with the rising cost of gas & groceries now we feel as though we have NO idea when we will be getting our checks.. First it's a paper check due out in June and now with this I really don't know when to expect the check or who it's comming from? Very aggrivating....

Good for you, you're my hero! I wanna be right where you are. Did you start off smart or follow a plan to get out of debt? Just curious. Sounds like you're setting a good example for everyone.

Bri, I think you are making a distinction between Rich and Wannabe Rich. The people who have the credit cards, gold toliet's, or spend 7 grand on shoes, aren't rich, they just have credit. Usually up to their eyeballs in debt. Having a good income and trying to show it off to anyone that will look isn't a sign of wealth, it's a sign of an ego problem. You probably wouldn't even recognize the real rich or wealthy or well-off. They are driving 5 year old cars, living in blue jeans and t-shirts, and living in the same house that is paid for and has served them well for 10 or 20 years and no, you won't find a credit card in their wallet or purse.
