Yet another great reason to take your vacation that week.

Anybody with any sense and if allowed to do so by their employer would take that week off and stay as far away from downtown St. Paul as possible.

Oh come now! Everybody loves a circus! The lunatic fringe congregating on the streets will produce a world of entertainment. Just beware of flying waste.

Hell no I wont go because going to the republican convention makes about as much sense as building a bridge that goes nowhere!

This is going to suck! Stay away from St. Paul during the RNC.

What about reimbursing ME for the extra time and inconvenience? Let my fellow Rethugs take shuttle buses, they've got the time to waste. I don't.

I don't. national republican party bosses taking public transportation? come on, get real. they are the ones that want to say screw those who don't own a car or those who are having trouble paying for the gas to get to their job. that's even the president's policy. some within the party would even say that taking shuttle buses would be a "move towards socialism". and we wouldn't want the common good now, would we?

Everyone keep in mind that the 2 biggest proponants for getting the RNC are the 2 democratic mayors from St. Paul and Mpls.

I have vacation time, but I am saving all of it for a major trip in late October. I am still working to accrue enough time. Guess my job will figure out what to do with me that week, won't they?

They wouldn't take public transportation because they would be rubbing shoulders with the plebeians and you can't have that you know. And before any conservative goes off, let me add that it would be exactly the same with the high mucky mucks at the Democratic convention ... unless they're staging a photo-op.

How'd you like to be a private ramp owner? 1. You're already pocketing the monthly contract fees, plus you're getting paid something - possibly very inflated fees - by the City or RNC to use your facility. 2. You know the City/RNC is picking up the tab for the shuttle services. This had to be done to accomodate the City owned parking anyway, so you don't have to deal with any of that. The books are lookin' REAL good this quarter!

It's amazing that no alternative parking plan has been given to the employees of United and Children's Hospitals, who have contracts to park in United's E lot. Who's making all the money off of these parking spots? Probably greedy United/Allina????

Based upon the lack of law enforcement maintained by the leaders of this OVERWHELMINGLY, DFL town, would you want to be an out of towner stuck on mass transit?

A great more Jaywalkers I am getting so tired up people walking across the street in places they are not suppose to. When are the cops going to start cracking down on that. It is one thing if they pick up a little speed and run across the street vs sauntering along and making me stop right in the middle of a block putting my own life at risk.

Oh and they strut very slowly across the street, just give them one good loud honk and scare the crap out of them! Or do what I do grab the cell phone and take a picture of them.....it really works wonders.

Why is everyone so negative? Let's look at the positive here. If you can work from home that week, do so. If you have vacation, take it. If you want to come downtown - go for it. It's your choice. And although I'm "left" leaning, I'm glad for the convention being here to bring business to many of the loyal St. Paul business owners who deserve the chance to bring in some much needed dollars. It's only a few days - let's just make the best of it, make some much needed money off it and move on with your life.
