It's about time to stop blaming BGE and put the blame on market forces.

Well isn't this amazing that a govenor lied to get elected. Let's see if i get this right i get a 170.00 one time credit and my electric bill will go up about 137.00 so i get a real savings of 33.00 well that's fair. Maybe i should work for the state so the govenor can give me an 80k raise then i can afford to live in this crooked state. This is not the land of pleasant living it's actually the land of crooks stealing between bge and the state. If people would stop spending their dollars in the state and force them to make the pay cuts they should've we could send a message.

I thought Gov. MOM was going to solve this problem? What's going on here? When he was running for Governor, he sure pretended that he had all the answers?

Once again the Repub lemmings blame the Governor. I voted for O'Malley for much more than his promise to fight BG&E for the consumers and that is what he has done. Exactly what is he supposed to do when you have an unregulated monopoly and the Repubs in DC have spent the last 8 years dismantling the regulations pertaining to the energy sector. This is Bush /Cheney's last gift to their benefactors. Why do you think Constellation agreed to the $175 rebate? They knew they would be getting it right back. The real fix to this problem is to allow several more power plants to be built in Maryland, but NOT by Constellation or BG&E but by a competitor. I have done my part - I moved to WGES and fixed my price for gas and electricity for the next 2 years.

Coal prices up more than 100% The U.S. has more coal reserves than all of the Middle East has oil. What you are seeing in coal prices is just another obscene corporate ripoff of the American people.Bush&Co and our do nothing Congress again sit on their fat cat butts,do their snoring act and hope that it will all go away. When will the American people decide that enough is enough? How long will we continue to be used as fodder for the corporate greedies? It's time to wake up America! We need to demand change,we need to demand it now!!!!

More and more, it's like living in a third world country. Don't turn on the oven; grill. At night don't turn on the lights except for the TV. Exactly how much laundry can you cram in the washer and still get the clothes clean? Or better still go down to the stream with some rocks. What the hell is this anyway?

If isn't wasn't for the liberal politicians and the environmental wackos the U.S. would have plenty of fuels to supply the people of this country. But, Congress wants specials gasoline blends, no drilling off of Florida, no drilling in Alaska, no building of new refrineries and we pay thru the nose!

afmca .... off on your normal Republican/President Bush and VP Cheney ranting. Governor O'Malley made the 70% projected rate increase a key part of his campaign promises. O'Malley blamed it on Erhlich and stated he was not going to allow the rate increase to happen. Well, he lied. O'Malley appointed a "new" PSC that was going to put BG&E and Constellation in their place and protect the consumer. Well, they couldn't do anything about the rate increase because it was lawful. O'Malley knew this (he is a lawyer) and intentionally lied and mis-led a lot of naive voters. We are at 88% rate increase within a year. O'Malley may not be the actual blame for the increases, but he is responsible for his lies. Don't defend him. O'Malley has done absolutely nothing good for the citizens of Maryland. And, the voters should show him the door next election. Along with all of the Democrats and Republicans who voted for deregulation in 1999.

Setting aside deregulation and corporate profits for a minute - are you paying the same for ANYTHING that you were 9 years ago? No. Everything we have has to be bigger, faster and more. We are to blame for rising costs. Conspicuous consumption is to blame, you don't need to have a 5 bedroom house with cathedral ceilings, and you don't need that 47" flat screen TV, just to watch the game. I'm not siding with the companies; however, the nature of a business is to make a profit, not to operate at a loss.

Big surprise. since i moved here 3 years ago, BGE has increase by 75%, and 10%, and now 8%. This is why we need to break away from gas and oil powered electric. By the time all is said and done, we will be paying twice as much as it we would had we built the damned wind turbines in western maryland.

you need to educate yourself. if it wasn't for the wacko's, we'd have burned through all our fuel because americans don't know what it means to conserve. this is obvious even today as most americans do not save money but instead spend money they don't have!

Well what do you know.

The PSC can't stop the rate increases. Neither can the Governor.

Why then does this Governor get a pass from the Sun and his supporters (morons)?

I mean, he was gonna save us all right? Stop these mean corporations from ripping us off. It was the former Governor's fault right? Trying to undo the last 4 years. What a crock.

Now? Not a word. Just some BS rebate that HE negotiated and championed as some victory for the middle class. And let's not for his brilliant energy assistance program that is now $12 million over budget (I'm sure it's more and will go even higher) and just screws the middle class even more.

Why isn't the Governor lambasting the PSC for approving yet another rate increase?

O wait, he's in office now and doesn't have to make up lies to get the morons to vote for him.

Gee, I thought the Teflon Leprechaun, little Marty O'Malley promised the voters he would do something about this? What a liar. Thank you voters of Maryland (make that the IDIOTS from Baltimore City, PG County, and Montgomery County) who put his lying teflon arse in office. By the way, to all the minorites who voted for him? What ever happened to Lt. Gov Brown? Seems that Little Marty has put him back behind the curtain until next election cycle. At least Michael Steele was always seen and always had input; but where is Brown?
