It is astonishing. Those same neurotic "Harvardians" pitched fits when the Army conducted exercises. Though they were fully aware that they bought a house which borders Devens, they still pitched a fit. They will find that private business will not be as accommodating as the Army.

Creating gainful employment opportunities that also benefit the environment and our economy by reducing dependence on burning petroleum products. Too bad not everyone can work for the state like the representative: good jobs at good wages that don't require much effort or make much noise. And recession proof!

Funny Jamie never hears his constituents speak when they say no more taxes...but if he can stand against job growth...then he is all for it...
Jamie quit the selective hearing.!

Have the decibel levels been measured at the homes and businesses of the people that complained? I want to know just how noisy this plant is. Without this knowledge, I'm going to assume that this is just a state senator kowtowing to his richest constituents.

I am an abutter to ES. ES has been found in violation of the industrial performance standards for noise and vibration. Their noise levels at my property line have been running on average 6-9 dBas above the legal limit (38dBa) 24/7. That is about twice the allowed level of noise. At times the noise levels reach 64-69 dBas- 7-8 x's the limit for up to six hours a day on record for the last four months. This noise is a constant thrumming with a vibration- this is a PRIVATE ENTERPRISE THAT AGREED TO FOLLOW THE LAWS OF DEVENS AND IS NOT. OSHA and DEP recognize the physical harm that can be caused by long term exposure to sound-hence the laws to protect employees and the public. Evergreen hasn't made any attempt to decrease noise output at night to let our brains reset. My business has had to alter operations because of ES's noise pollution. My health and others has suffered due to the noise. When ES runs their plant in compliance in all areas I will be a quiet neighbor. Laura McGovern Owner Dunroven Farm

Typical Eldridge; This company is pushing green energy, you would think he would want to help them. Nope; this guy would through his own mother under the bus. Maybe he does'nt like them because they are creating jobs and taking some of his constituents off welfare, they are less dependent on him.

Why don't they hire a reputable noise abatment consultant, like Noise Control Engineering in Billerica, MA. Get the politics and emotions out of it and implement proven noise control strategy. It is irresponsible of EGS to install equipment and then worry about the mitigation later - our politicians, state agencies and industry working for their own benifit and backwards as usual.

That company shouldn't be operating at night with those noise levels. Is it louder than a train? Millions of people live near train tracks and manage to get through the night.

They are "green" so they can create all the noise polution they want.
I wonder how much of our tax money evergreen is getting. Are these the kind of "good" jobs we want? They are to cheap to do the right thing.
It is time to sue them, it is the only thing these greedy selfish people will understand.

Most people who live near train tracks moved in AFTER the train. They did not have a cheap greedy noise polluter who gets taxpayer money, move in next door and start breaking the law.

No one wants anyone to lose their jobs or for any jobs to be outsourced.
They just want their neighbors to follow the laws, get their peace & quiet back, have a good night's sleep, a stop to their declining health as a result of not sleeping, and all the other problems (that are too numerous to list)to end. It is NOT too much to ask that they not do the "noisy" work during the nigth. It IS possible for them to do it at no consequence to their business. That's been admitted by ES. And it is NOT too much to ask that when someone does break the law they pay the penalty required by the law. Laws aren't suggestions on how to behave. They are actual rules put in place to be followed & enforced in order to live in a safe, civilized, orderly community.

You just don't get it. This isn't about politicians or politics. This is about people's health. Watch strong, healthy, sane people you know deteriorate into sick, exhausted, hypersensitive zombies then tell me who & what this is about and if what ES is doing is so environmentally friendly.

I want to know how many residents are affected by the noise generated by this company...it is truely not close to any residential areas as far as I can tell.
It looks like it is across from the Army Depot...lots of heavy eqipment there.. am sure tanks and the like are louder than this company....just my humble opinion of course!

Is the "noise pollution" really enough to put all of those people out of jobs? And from what I understand ES did attempt to help the problem by building a wall to cut the noise and vibration. So tell us, do you have your own meter to measure the noise/vibration? As far as noise...move to any other city with factories that run all night, or near a highway with trucks going all night or near an amuzement park that runs from the early morning until late night and I am sure you will find the noise doesn't meet your satisfaction! The people of Harvard would rather see more people in the Unemployment Line!

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Taurus

Keep calm! Your emotions are becoming increasingly heightened and intense today. As a result, you're likely to take things much more seriously than usual. That's wonderful if you're involved in a hot and heavy encounter with Mr or Ms Right, but it won't be such good news if you go overboard about silly trifles. If you're doing some last-minute shopping you'll want to be as extravagant as your budget allows. Or is it a case of Budget...? What budget?
