Every article I have read about accidents involving male drivers state that the driver was drunk without every providing any proof that the driver in fact was drunk. The case in Wheatley Heights, the case in Wading River, etc. were all listed and never followed up with any blood test results. Can anyone prove that any of these men were drunk at the time? I hope that Newsday will start listing every woman who was in an accident as a drunk driver without publishing any proof. People who have not been convicted of any crime, no matter how people feel about the allegations, have to be legally referred to as alleged. This has to be applied no matter what gender the driver is. I cannot in the same way say that a coworker is a thief. I have to say that there is evidence that alleges that person is a thief.

Drunk drivers need to be stopped. Haven't any of these idiots learned a lesson from Michael Hedgen, the drunk who killed the little girl Kate and the limo driver. He is in jail where he belongs for MURDER. Sorry but Michael Koss belongs there too. He made a mistake, a serious one, and he needs to be in the same cell. Drunk drivers who do harm to anyone or anything need to be publicly humiliated, incarcerated, and charged strictly for their crime. They need to be forced to "hit bottom". Maybe then they will get the help they need before they kill again. I hope Aaron Carr finds the strength in his faith, family and friends to move forward. God bless you Aaron, I will pray for you.

I think you have a great idea on making sure your kids have some understanding of the repercussions of drinking and driving!

I have one question though...how do you figure Pennsylvania is a dry state? They do sell alcohol, but i believe its just not sold in grocery stores (i think it has to be purchased at a beer distributor or liquor store). Or is there some new law? I've never heard of any of our states banning alcohol altogether (well, except prohibition!).

I have been clipping drunk driving articles out of Newsday since my twins were born 7˝ years ago. I plan on handing those articles to my children a year before their sixteenth birthday and I expect them to read all of them and write me an essay about drunk driving BEFORE they even consider asking to go for their driving permits.Of course I am hoping this will help prevent them from drinking and driving, but that doesn't stop all the other drivers on the road.
I personally do not drink at all and I have the great misfortune of the majority of my husband's family are all alcoholics. Too many people in my neighborhood are as well. I completely dislike drunkenness or people that can not learn to stop drinking after a few drinks. I understand it's an addiction, but more can be done to help put an end to alcoholism and drunk driving.
I think our neighbors on the other side of New Jersey got it all right— nip it in the bud and make the state a dry one. Way to go Pennsylvania!

Uh that's Martin Heidgen. Poor Katie Flynn the flower child & thousands of other victims who fall victim to these maggots. especially the driver who was caught again for the 78th time drinking & driving. Does it take a death to put theis loser away? Please anyone who kills while driving drunk is a murderer. Just as if he used a gun or a knife. a 4000 pound car is just as lethal.

People are quick to jump to conclusions. Innocent until proven guilty. Perhaps he is guilty. Perhaps not. God bless the family of these 2 poor souls.

AGREED!

I find it amazing that the police are allowed to damn the people before the labs/courts do! Because of some stupid officer this poor man's reputation has been COMPLETELY tarnished. Let's hope Newsday, NYPost, NYDailynews, and every other newspaper out there decides to not just run with a story before they know the facts. We know that won't happen though...

The drunk driving in Suffolk County is out of control. It doesnt make sense how Steve Levy could take the primary DWI enforcers of the highways and then crack down on enforcement units within the precincts. SCPD through no fault of their own is becoming a reactive dept going from 911 call to 911 call. As Nassau County has increased DWI enforcement more than ever Suffolk County has taken an about face on DWI's under the leadership of Steve Levy. Where is MADD with all of this going on. I dont feel safe driving in Suffolk County anymore.
Drunk Drivers will always be out there and that is why we need police officers in these specialized units who are able to devote time to these impotant issues. Not just go from 911 call, take paperwork, and then off to the next 911 call. As the chances of getting stopped for speeding, or other violations decrease, the DWI's will be out there stronger than ever.
Steve Levy is your disagreement with our law enforcement that great that you are willing to put our well being in jeopardy?
What about those two Cops that Newsday failed to follow up on DWI ... If his Cop buddies would have arrested hin there would be one less death in Suffolk County... Don't tell me they didn't know ether.... You want the Police to enforce laws they break themselves... The problem with DWI is they're too many people who should be arrested that aren't arrested because they're being passed up, in both Counties... A non govt group should be trained to enforce DWI... Not the corrupt Family of abusers !!

Daily Horoscope for November 25

Leo

The Moon and Uranus blend in your psychic houses, making it necessary for you to use your intuition more than your intellect. Sometimes you need to stop thinking and just feel; your gut is probably the best barometer of each situation. It may be hard to express yourself clearly so you may want to spend time with those you are especially close to. The deep connections make it easy to understand without words.
