We are a retired couple living on a limited income, and because of at least 7 to 10 calls a day we have had to pay an additional amount of money to the telephone Co for what is called Caller ID. There must be some kind of stopage to this kind of nonsense. We could certainly could use the extra money for this Caller ID that we pay each month on something worthwhile.
Thank You

I understand that it's their only source of income.. i am glad i am not spending my tax dollars for them to put food in their mouth; but at the same time it's nobody's fault but their own for making their mistakes. Why call the DO NOT CALL LIST if they phone number in question has already gone to the proper steps for telemarketers to stop calling them. Technically that is harrassment. If it is on the DO NOT CALL LIST then don't call them. As far as losing revenue because of all of our hurricanes well guess what it's all around the world; especially in the midwest with the tornadoes or in Cali with the earthquakes or even the Gulf Coast with flooding too. So it's everywhere not just Florida. Either way i like my caller ID and don't awnser the phone anyhow unless i recongize the number.

So Renee, are you one of those uneducated ones? 1st off, ALL CAPS is considered shouting and rule of thumb for now, hmmmm, 7+ years.

Next,
SOUL SOURCE OF INCOME ATLEAST THESE PEOPLE
, yea, another "educated" run on sentence, next;
WITH NO EDUCATION OR REAL OTHER CHOICES
, yea, missed grammer 101 huh?
YOU PEOPLE PROPOSE WE PUT THEM AND AREA BUSINES
well, enough is enough, I am sure I can find more, but the point of the topic is that numerous people like myself don't want to answer.

We are not putting anyone out, and if the busiess pays them to call, have them pay to advertise instead of harassment, by the way, Renee, what's you number there?

Anyway, there is my .02 agreeing with the intelligent people on the post, enough is enough with the telemarketing!

I am on the "Do Not Call List".
I do not want to hang up on these harrassing phone callers because I don't want to answer their phone calls anyway.
I also don't want to pay the phone company $4 a month or $48 a year for somthing that should be FREE, just to check to see who's on the other end.

It might sound as simple as saying "no" or just hanging up to those who have not been harassed by people misusing your phone number.
Perhaps after you've been bugged by an unscrupulous collection agency when you don't owe anyone any money, and you dig deep enough to find out that Florida has some of the weakest collection agency regulation in the nation, you'll see it differently.
In particular, when you get "beeped" during another conversation, and it might be the doctor or hospital about an ill relative, only to find out it's an arrogant skip tracer at a collection agency wanting you to tell them where one of your unknown distant relatives is, you may see the matter differently.
Again, it's much more than a matter of just hanging up or saying "no." They come back worse than mangrove swamp mosqitoes.

Greetings,
I requested a bill collector to add me to their do not call list and they claim bill collection companies are not required to comply to this law.

Any one know?

I had a transplant and was recovering at home.

The phone was ringing 10 times a day for the Police Athletic League or the Firefighters whatever.

It took me forever to get me names off their lists.

Can you imagine someone barely able to stand, walking across the room to answer the phone over and over again.

I wasn't in any condition to move the phone closer to me.

My answer was to turn off the ringer, and listen to the answering machine.

Everybody I knew, knew my condition and would only call for emergencies, and that I would get back with them.

I cannot believe you did not and cannot understand what a fixed income is. Mr. Patterra is stating that they pay for this caller i.d. box, and STILL have to get harrassed each day. If you don't understand that $3.95 may be expensive to some, then maybe, Mr. Patterra and you can get together and you can pay this for them every month. I know telemarketers need to eat, etc. however, on a Sat, or Sun. morning is definitely not the best time to call, especially to those that work 40 hours a week. You will get a real MAD person on the other end if you call me!(especially calling at 8 a.m.)

The State of Florida should not be charging residents a fee to be on the do not call list! The national do not call list does not charge. What do you think about this??E-mail me at jamesmgonte@aol.com

Being a fairly new resident, I attempted to be understanding, when I began to receive numerous telephone solicitations each night. After now being a resident over a year, I have found that the calls have not decreased despite my informing each caller to take me off their call list. I then decided to see what Florida had to offer in the way of a Do Not Call List. I was astonished that Florida is so impoverished that it must charge for this service. Does anyone know for what the money collected is then used? I have lived in Texas, Ohio, Massachusetts and New Hampshire and to my knowledge they still do not charge for such a list.

This charge to consumers must date from Bush's tenure in the governor's office.

Every other state that I'm aware of requires the telemarketing companies that make calls to numbers in that state to pay for the "Do Not Call" lists.

Bush and his ilk obviously think it's better to tax individual consumers for the privilege of not being harassed then to require the harassing companies to support these lists as a necessary cost of doing business!

Leave it to Florida, to charge for the "no call list." Florida. since the 2000 Presidential Coupe' has become one of the most Constitutional, Bill of Rights ignoring states in the Union. People are going to have to WAKE UP in Florida, before their rights are gone forever.

1)Why are you giving young adults over the age of 18 who having kids so they can live off the government and be on welfare?

2)Why cant your industry just stop giving out welfare or just give them to lower class instead of all of upper class, middle class, & lower class?
