Be aware, in this sure to be utterly disgusting attempt to cling to power, that the Republican Party has used EXACTLY this technique as a dirty trick against their opposition. Your annoyance is justified, but be sure you are not having the bag pulled over your head.

Will All Telemarketing Calls Stop If I Register? # If I register my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all telemarketing calls?
No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. # Are calls from political organizations or calls soliciting for charities covered?
Political solicitations are not covered by the TSR at all, since they are not included in its definition of “telemarketing.” Charities are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $11,000. # What about telephone surveys?
If the call is really for the sole purpose of conducting a survey, it is not covered. Only telemarketing calls are covered — that is, calls that solicit sales of goods or services. Callers purporting to take a survey, but also offering to sell goods or services, must comply with the National Do Not Call Registry.

This is in response to the calls made on behalf of the Forest Ranch Charter School. My name is Chris Howell. I own and operate Impact Marketing. We are the Call Center who placed the voice broadcasting calls sent out the last week of May. Our company works hard to enhance and enrich our local community through a variety of civic, environmental, and nonprofit projects including, Habitat for Humanity, Woman Build, and the Butte Environmental Council. We donate our time and resources to these endeavors to be a good neighbor in the community. The server that was used for that campaign is brand new. When I set the clock on the server, I didnt realize it was set on Eastern Time Zone. The calls were to start at 9am Pacific Time. However, when I updated the server the night before, unfortunately, the clock reverted back to the Eastern Time. This placed the calls hours earlier than I had planned. I apologize for the early calls made that Saturday morning. I have sent each of you a letter explaining how and why this happened, but felt it needed to be addressed publicly. I am aware of the FTC laws pertaining to sales calls and voice broadcasting, and obey them to the letter. Accidents happen, even with the best intentions. Please do not let this accident deter you from supporting our local schools. Those that have the ability to make a difference, have the responsibility, to make a difference. Sincerely, Chris Howell
