You really need to file a report to Asheville Police Department Dective Downing. He would need to talk to someone who has no work done but has paid. Only a couple of people have called the APD. Most are calling the media and such and before he goes to the DA he needs more complaints!

I posted this on the other thread, but to recap, this woman most definately has some assets left because Atty Bob Long would never take on anybody that couldn't pay him and pay him WELL.

I just can't stand by and not say anything. As I go through these posts I realize that most of you don't know what you are talking about. Many are making snide comments and speculations that can and will damage KPH's reputation. I too am a patient and she was an excellent dentist. I really liked how she could give you a pain injection without seeing the needle. Her staff was efficient and would make you feel like you were not in a "scary" dentist office. She is caring and would give you the help your teeth needed. Up front xrays are essential to finding out what your mouth needs. If you feel you paid too much money then that's your fault. You can always decline care.
I think that many people are jumping on the band wagon because they can! Now did all these people attack Kathryn before this started happening? No.
I do think Kathryn needs some personal help with her turmolous life. She had too many eggs in her basket and her practice suffered because of it. She should have to pay people back and there should be some consequences for her actions. However it would just be nice if people would stop and think before they make acusations.

Tell that to the people who TRUSTED her and now are paying large monthly payments for NOTHING.

FACTS are that she cleaned the office of valuables and transfered her porperty to Pam Banning...

Suppose to be at Mission ,.....now no where to be found...

Katy909? Sorry. She's made her patients look like fools. There have all ready been comments to all of us that are derogatory in nature.("Rich people make me sick!") We're NOT rich people and I certainly wouldn't just toss $10,000 of my hard earned money out the window.

I think there are plenty of folks here who don't have anything against Ms. Philpott-Hill personally.(i agree that snide comments aren't helpful for anyone). If her office would just release work that's already been completed and paid for and refund money for work not completed, that would solve it for almost everyone- I would think. The situation was just handled in an irresponsible way and it's very unfortunate and continues to snowball. It's really in their hands to solve it.

Did anyone go get your records today? Tish was there and another lady I think from the Bank. Tish was beyond helpful she even went back and gave me my origional statements and work to be completed for the purchase price I paid. But I trust no one. How can I? Dont forget to go or call the APD ad make a report. There was also a tax notice posted on her door.

Hello all! I picked up my papers,spoke with Courtney at length, as well as Capt. Blain, and met a couple of you today. Thanks for the hug, MomGrandma! I finally managed to get a complaint filed this afternoon, and am cautiously optimistic that this will be resolved, but it will obviously take time. I am certain after talking with Capt. Blain that the DA has enough now to go forward. After looking at my care credit balance, account history report, and comparing it to the "patient notes master I have found that the total I am due is 13,817, which includes extensive prep work for two crowns, 1 implant, and a lower partial that seem to have never been ordered or has disappeared to parts unknown as well as all the other work in the plan. I know I have lots of company. Who wouldn't be upset???

I'm not unmindful of the risks of foregoing x-rays but I think the professional should make the "presentation" rather than the hygienist who just follows a script. And I think the dds should tell his staff that if a patient declines a suggested procedure they should make certain he is alerted so he can have a brief conversation with the patient. Drs. would save themselves a lot of difficulties if they did that.

I am the woman who paid the money up front, 38,000.
I needed a fullset of crowns after damage from a car accident some years ago. I was told if I paid in full for a process that would take 8-10 weeks I would save 4,000. Katherine and her staff and I became quite friendly during the past year and I think she has comitted the worst kind of fraud on people who trusted and believed her. Luckily I have an understanding husband, I'm beating myself up enough. By the way I did get my upper crowns not the bottom ones . So I'm out 19,000. I intend to file criminal charges against her and sue her for damages.

By scaring the crap out of you, that's how! She made everyone feel like they couldn't afford NOT to accept the deal du jour(as the price would literally double the next day) with that handy dandy Care Credit (which btw, Tish was more than happy to fill out the form while I waited). I left that office in tears one day after Amy tried to swindle me out of $4800-she said three of my teeth were on the verge of falling apart and if I didn't get crowns I'd need root canals, etc, etc. I didn't fall for it. She already had my money for two crowns that she hadn't started yet. I wanted to back out of the whole deal at that point but it was too late. She had me. BTW, my horrible teeth are still intact and that was over a year ago. Anyone have any luck with the Care Credit Fraud Dept?

Katy...belive me, I really wanted to give Kathryn the benefit of the doubt. I too found her to be a good dentist...a bit of a quirky, larger than life character, but that is part of her charm. I hate to say it, but it looks as if she is truly guilty of some very unethical, if not downright despicable things. People place a sacred trust in their healthcare providers. The evidence is quite compelling that she abused that trust to her own selfish ends.I also think that we are only just beginning to peal away the layers of this whole ugly story....stay tuned Asheville!

YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT... You obviously weren't a patient who was left HIGH and DRY with temporary crowns in for weeks, with a massive infection from improperly installed temporary crowns so you had to go on antibiotics. You obviously weren't a patient who lost 10 lbs because it was too painful to eat. How would you have liked to find out you couldn't do anything about your situation when you realized you couldn't even leave a message at your dentist's office, but heard a voice recording telling you to go to an emergency room if you were in pain. Also, how would you have liked tracking down the work you had paid for on a blog, then finding out the work you had paid for was no good, so you had to go through having the work done by another dentist, then paying all over again. It feels really good to be treated like that-- that's excellent dentistry for sure. You are obviously one of the lucky ones, because there are A LOT of people out there who have shared the exact same experience to one degree or another. KPH had no compassion for us when she ripped us all off and left us high and dry. Please do me a favor, if you want to defend her, call up WLOS or ACT, the NC Dental Board or anyone else and tell them what a great "gal" and dentist she was. Your comments do not belong on this forum. They insult us all.

You have a very valid point...hygienist are highly trained as well...and know this information. Some dentist do have that arrangement with their staff (about alerting them)..some don't...dentist, like doctors, lawyers, teachers and every other career field all have different opinions about how to run their practice...not saying they are right or wrong they just have opinions...that's why it's important to ask..ask..ask...and ask to speak to the Dr. ask him point blank what the benefit is. This incident unfolding should put some of them on their toes, don't you think? It might just be refreshing to watch..
