How sad, that at such a low point in her life, people took advantage and stole from this lady. Ms. Yepez, just remember, that what goes around comes around, and these people will eventually have to account for their actions.

There are laws against exploitation of the disabled. Ms. Yepez and her lawyer should pursue this. What was taken from her needs to be returned.

Judge Eduardo Gamboa should not have appointed Hector Phillips as her guardian attorney in the first place.
Attorney Hector Phillips did not file 2007 & 2008 tax returns for Yepez?
This whole matter stinks and the smell comes Judge Gamboa & attorney Hector Phillips. The gaul of Judge Gamboa to give Yepez financial advice.
Remember Judge Gamboa when it comes election time. Beware of attorney Phillips.
The probate courts of El Paso deserve better.
Yepez has been through hell because of this judge and lawyer.

I have been following this story since it opened up to the public. The only question or comment I have is, the El Paso Times Reporter has failed to do all his research. This case is public information and maybe just maybe, we dont know the whole story and maybe once someone (any reporter or citizen) will make the time to do ALL his or her work and giving the whole story, so that people are not blinded by just the negative and making conclusions of ones reputation.

Ms. Yepez: I pray that you succeed in getting your life back. May God give you the strength to sue all of the people that took advantage of your condition. They probably thought that you would never recover, but you did! And now go after every single one of them, including that attorney. He sounds so fishy!!!! Oh, please make a will this time....you never know.

Maybe there is a reason why Judge Gamboa made that suggestion. We do not know all of the story, we should all take the suggestion of Unbelievable.

Congratulations Monica Yepez!

NASGA is an organization of victims and families working to expose and end unlawful and abusive guardianships/conservatorships -- a growing national epidemic.

Guardianship wards are stripped of all rights: the right to decide where to live and whom to associate with, how to spend (or save!) ones own money, to accept or refuse medical treatment -- or even ask for a second opinion, marry, vote, etc. Most important, wards are stripped of the right to complain.

With the fox guarding the henhouse and the hens muzzled, guardians and their attorneys can easily unjustly enrich themselves at the expense and to the detriment of the very person they have been court-appointed to protect.

Many wards are forcibly taken from their homes and isolated in nursing facilities against their will – and family is not permitted to visit or have information or input regarding medical “care”. Wards die prematurely – alone and afraid. The devastation victims and families suffer at the hands of the system haunts them for the rest of their lives.

And where do the victims go for help? Many go to the AG, only to be turned away because the abuse has been court-sanctioned.

Visit NASGA at StopGuardianAbuse.org or NASGA’s blog at http://NASGA-StopGuardianAbuse.blogspot.com for more information.

Yours,
Elaine Renoire

HeyHurray, if your from El Paso, please do all of us a favor, since its seems so easy for you to throw rocks at others on half a stoy- and make time to pull the court records (public information)(God Bless the USA) and find out whats really there.

Please, no more puff pieces on Monica Yepez. It's obvious the reporter doesn't know the real Yepez. "Dehydration" is a polite way to describe the REAL condition that lead to her disability. She was lucky to have Hector Phillips as a lawyer, and he's doubly lucky to lose her as a client.

That is what Judge Gamboa and attorney Phillips are because they helped themselves to Dr. Yepez's money. Their incredibile negligence allowed her to exploited by the construction company. That is the whole point of a guardianship. They did not protect her.. and how much did they pocket. Dr. yepez you need to sue both the judge and attorney for their total negligence in their duty to you. Also ask for punitive damasges because any jury in El Paso will give it to you. You deserve your estate back to take care of you. One thing is for sure, you can't handle it any worse that what they did to you. Good Luck!

Why isn't any candidate running against this judge. I've been in the democratic pasrty for a long time and nobody has said they are running against Judge Gamboa. We need somebody to take a stand and protect us. Judge Gamboa is so tied with the corruption of El Paso. Look at what happened with his son. We need ethical judges not Judge Gamboa!

Slow down! You're trying to do too much and it's driving you - and everyone else - up the wall. What's more, if you're in too much of a hurry you'll start to become accident-prone and that will make you even more het up. Try to take any setbacks or domestic mishaps in your stride, otherwise you'll end the day feeling like a nervous wreck.
