Lisa, why did you stand there and watch your child treated that way? Hope you did not pay the bill. Oh, you did not pay, this is another freebie people get.If you do not like what the tax payers are paying for your childs dental work, get your own dentist and PAY for it.
@fedup:
Look you human speed bump, you have no reason to breath if you think that because the dental work was paid for by public assistance that a child should have to go through that pain. If you stood in front of me and said that I would punch you in the head. Second thought, no I wouldn't cause crap splatters!! Old thread??? Who gives a dam, shut up!!

just bcuz its a freebie as you call it doesnt mean her child should have been treated that way...you should watch your mouth,it doesnt matter if the state paid or if she paid out of pocket each child should be treated equally...

Apparently there is a class action lawsuit against cool smiles and if anyone knows i would like to have it, my child was also tortured at cool smiles a few years ago and has all the metal teeth on top as evidence, i did not take him back for the bottom row after me and my wifes experience with my child there, I also paid a substantial amount of copay due to the fact i used my work insurance, I went to another Dentist for a second opinion and He said, what cool smiles did was uneccesary and brought fear to my child when he visits the dentist.

It does not matter whether u have Medicaid or not, no child deserves to be treated like that. By the way you bitter people about others getting Medicaid to pay for there childs healthcare, you shouldn't judge anyone!! You don't know there situation!! I do not get any type of assistance, and I don't mind!!! It doesn't matter whether you pay for service or not there are always going to dentists at Kool Smiles that shouldn't even be there. My nephew got treated like crap and DOES NOT GET A FREEBIE!!! So you self centered people mind your own dam business and let people take care of there own!!!!!!!

My daughter was also restrained, first with some socks on her arms, then tied to some kind of board so she would'nt move for the x-ray. They told me to wait in the room so she would'nt act up. When they brought her back she had vomit all on her face and hair and her eyes red and swollen, there was spots all over her face tiny red dots. As soon as I saw how she was I told them to remove everything from her, and the guy that brought her said "ma'am" that's why kids act like that because parents spoil them. I told him she was not spoiled she was scared of how they treated her, he said well she still has to get things done. I untied her and told them I no longer wanted there services and walked out very upset.

Some people dont know anything about hard times and hate on people that qualify for medical or dental assistance! Grow up ppl, if u have money to pay then u have to deal with it and pay! If u hate the system so much then get the heck out of this country! You wont b missed or needed here with an attitude like that. And thank god you all arent the leaders in this country, ppl would b suffering right in front of u and u wouldnt care! How Sad! I hope u pray that God allows u into heaven with a heart like that. Money isnt everything! Having healthy children should be our number 1 priority, even if they arent your kids!

First of all, you need to go back to school and learn to spell!! Second of all...not all people who receive Medicaid or Foodstamps are jobless...so stop stereotyping!! I've seen many hardworking families who just can't afford to pay for insurance and rather than have their children miss school because they are too sick or lose teeth because of cavities, they ask for help. So please, don't judge if you have never been in someone else's shoes!!

I took my daughter to kool smiles in mcallen, texas and I will never again take my daughter to that place again. I could honestly say my daughter was emotionally scarred by the treatment she received. Even I , as an adult, couldn't handle they way she was crying, I started crying because I didn't think she was treated the way a child should have been. The only reason I allowed it is because they convince you that you are doing the right thing for her, that this treatment should be done for her benefit. What I don't understand is if they don't specialize in pediatric dentistry, why do they make it seem like they are? All their commercials are "kid friendly" and their clinics are equipped with toys and slides. I don't think its right. I have been taking my daughter with a pediatric dentistry in mission and their service is excellent. My daughter was sedated, and that made the process less traumatizing to her. She actually looks foward to her dental appointments. I will never allow my daughter to go through the pain and suffering she went through in kool smiles again.

Shut up you stupid ignorant person!!!! There are single parents, mostly moms and they do what they can to get by. Especially with a bunch of dead beat people out there who make kids and don't help support them. So until you know what the hell your talking about you should shut the hell up. And you're probably some racist white A*****e!!!!!!!

My nephew had a bad experience. When was 5 he was taken to a Kool Smiles office. He was tied down and screamed of pain. My sister was not allowed to go back with him, but he told my sister what had happened. My sister complained, and they told her, that was the reason why parents wernt allowed to the back. My nephew is 8 yrs old and is terrified of any dentists or doctors office. Now im happy that Kool Smiles is getting sued.

You're absolutely right! Just a bunch a of free loaders and it's not good enough their kids get free dental now they want to cash in. Just remember, it's a generational thang!
Freeloaders? You are ignorant to think everyone in America that receives assistance has never worked. I was in the work force full-time for 20 years. When I fell on hard times you bet your ass I asked for help. I didn't pay all those taxes for nothing. The service the gov't is now paying for isn't free smartass. I paid into it for the past 20 years and, yes, my children deserve treatment that is not traumatizing.

The Kool Smiles in my town recently closed down. I drove my daughter buy to show her. Though it happened when she was 3, she still remembers. She found contentment in knowing they (in her eyes) had been punished & wouldn't be hurting anyone anymore. I pray the employees there never work in the dental field again.

When you go to a private dentist and you have a problem with them you blame the dentist. Why is it when you go to a company like Kool smiles you blame the company? I'm not saying that Kool smiles was right in the pressure they place on their employees, but it ultimately comes down to the dentist/hygienist for treatment of their patients and how they are treated. If you are curious about any problems that a dentist may have had in their past you should look them up with the state board. Its free and doesn't take long.
What you are saying would be true IF the severely poor treatment were not a pattern of theirs throughout the U.S. Kool Smiles did not lose their license to treat medicaid patients for several years for no reason. I hope & pray the government takes their license again, this time permanently.

They DO NOT file insurance, all they do is answer the phones and book appointments. The home office in ATL files all the insurance claims.
If a child asks to leave the dentist will not let them go....who are you? You CLEARLY have your facts wrong.
The dentists have to do what the corporate offices tell them to do and there are times you cannot let a patient leave the chair with only half the work done, its worse than never starting it.
Try the fear factor stuff somewhere else, it doesn't work here
When I , the mother, am crying & begging them to stop while my daughter is screaming, gagging & choking under a straight jacket while tilted backward (anyone ever hear of Gravity? Saliva flows DOWN), then you bet your damn ass they should have stopped. They were reckless, heartless, violent, verbally abusive, & traumatizing. I could care less if you think that sounds melodramatic. It is a fact - that's why the Kool Smiles in my town just closed down.
