I'm 17 yrs old and I have badbreath. I thought it might be a problem in my gums or my teeth I even had a surgery in my mouth but I still badbreath and I don't really how to deal with that. Ok I'm 16 now and for about 5-6 years now I've had bad breath. I know this because I can feel it at the back of my throught (however you spell that :/ ) I brush twice a day I do not floss nor use mouth wash. But I often have bad breath when I have a cold. Should I brush more. Or just stop eating things that arnt good for me. E.G. Full English breakfast on weekends.

I am so sick of having this problem, i have tried everything too. I don't believe it is the smoking because so many people smoke and don't have bb! Also i am pretty sure that I smelled even before i smoked. If anyone is reading this, who has the same problem and lives in the Ny/NJ area, maybe we could meet and try to help each other figure out what this could be.I am not comfortable asking friends and most of them lie anyway and say they are unable to smell anything. I have a great boyfriend and i am afraid i will lose him if i don't get this taken care of. I am too embarrassed to ask him, but i am sure he has noticed. Sometimes when i go to kiss him he turns his head and only lets me kiss his cheek. Every time we are together i brush my teeth every hour and 5 minutes later that bad taste is back again.
If i can figure out,(with the help of another person) what treatments reduce the smell over others, that would be a start, as i don't think there is a cure for this. It's a shame that it's such a taboo topic because so many people suffer from it, yet there is so little known about it.
I have often felt suicidal over this and i did see a shrink for a while but again i was too ashamed to bring it up.

Sometimes i have a white coating at the back, but even when the coating is not there and my tongue is pink, i can still tell from other people's reactions that there is a smell. I thought it may be a stomach issue because i do get some type of reflux into my throat, but even avoiding certain food does not completely help. Also, i have read on other forums that if it is a stomach issue this should be cleared by using charcoal, which did not work for me. Chlorophyll simply gave me diarreah, which made the problem worse.
It baffles me why doctors are so embarrassed discussing this problem when it's obvious that a person who suffers from chronic bb may have a deeper illness.
I also notice that the problem is far worse when i don't eat. I think in my case i must have several different factors causing it. Mouth bacteria, reflux, post nasal drip. It is a curse that has ruined my life. Not sure when it started i estimate some time in the last 5 years. I just wish i had had the sense to get married and settle down before it happened. Not much chance of that happening now!
Ifeel terrible complaining about this when there are people out there with far worse illnesses and many people see this as a vanity issue. It is not a vanity issue, it is impossible to live a normal fulfilled life like this. The only reason i am still able to date is because i am still somewhat young and considered very attractive by most people who meet me. After my looks are gone i might aswell immigrate to the North Pole.
