"It is estimated that half the U.S. population won't see a dentist because of anxiety over treatment."

No it's because of prices, the recession and the hole in Coleman's pocket.

I had this done at another dentist and it works, but it tastes awful. The dentist had to hold the instrument on the tooth for what seemed like forever, but it was better than having half of my mouth numb.

I don't know if I would rather have my mouth numb for half a day or have a awful taste in my mouth. Is the taste extremely gross? And how long does the taste linger?

The bad taste you experienced came from your dentist starting the flow of anesthetic before the needle went in. The bad taste only last for a few minutes, at most.

Many people find that to be more comfortable than waiting to insertion to start the flow.

Prices too high? How much should someone charge for a service requiring eight years of school and several hundred thousand dollars to open a practice?

It wasn't so gross that you would gag, it's just an unpleasant medicine-like taste. It went away fairly quickly afterwards.

The price is high enough to put people off but not necessarily unjustified.

People who worry about cost of treatment in the Columbus area should take advantage of the services offered at OSU's Student Dental Clinic.

I wasn't trying to criticize. I was simply implying that it is expensive. I know plenty of people that cannot afford a dentist visit.
