This is a really disheartening story. Who was this woman? Why did this happen? Was her husband mentally ill? I am surprised no one has said anything in this woman's honor.My prayers to her children.

I dont understand why there has not been anymore coverage of this tragedy by the media, there are som many unasnwered questions...

Maybe the age difference had something to do
with this. Maybe jealously?

If you look at the obituary today Joni was a beautiful girl. Obviously she was academically successful. What was wrong with that husband? What ever happened to divorce if you aren't happy? Murder should not be an option but lately it seems to be a choice that many men are considering. Her poor family. I can't begin to imagine. They probably were happy for her, thinking that this dentist was financially secure and dependable. And her husband ends up taking her life and leaving those babies without parents. Did the parents like him? Were they leery of this older, previously married man with prior children? Was this man previously violent or abusive? This is what I want to know as a woman and a person.

you have no idea what you are talking about! i knew these people. they loved each other so for anyone who reads this or about the case dont just think oh what a freak, he is a murderer, how could he just kill his own wife, what a bad person. yea what he did might have been bad but it doesnt mean he was stupid or mental!!!!!

to answer "saddened" questions. this man was not bad, mentally ill, and most of the people reading and hearing about this case dont even know these people, what the problem was, and they dont even know half the story! this uple was good, they were not cyco people!!!! the parents liked him. ok? he wasnt abusive or violentand wasnt on drugs, or drunk, or anything for that matter!!! he loved her. and thats that. so think twice about what you say about this whole incident!!!

If he loved her he would not have killed her. He would have wanted her to be alive so she could live her life with the people she loved (her children, her family, her friends, even her husband). She trusted that man. Please don't make excuses for a murderer who took a mother from his own children and a daughter from her parents. You think that what he did "might have been bad." Correction: What he did was horrific, monstrous, demented, and unforgivable. I fear to think what else he put that beautiful young lady through. Do not say this man was not violent. Murders are violent. Thank goodness he killed himself. At least his last decision was a good one.

I have known dale for prolly over half my like. He's been my dentist since he was over on maxwell street. I played basketball with him at the YMCA and he was such an awesome person. I never met his wife but there had to be something that was going on the no one knew about. Dale always seemed in a great mood, made you laugh, and always seemed like a caring person. But either way he did what he did, and im sure after he did it, he felt horrible about himself and prolly couldnt live with it. I send my deepest regards to there familiy, especially the children, and friends. God will be with you.

Men seem extremely possesive of their women and the women seem threatened, perhaps a little jealous, in the presence of other females.
Don't jump to conclusions, it's just an observation. There's always this unspoken but unusual 'tension' when I'm in the presence of couples.

well that is one of the rumors and also that he felt used, she just wanted his money. How true that is who knows?

I personally think after meeting him and Joni that he did find out something about her and maybe tried to kill himself and she tried to stop him. in the process she got killed and then he was even further distraught and so he killed himself. He did not seem like a murderer to me. She seemed like a caring person who would try and stop him from killing himself. Anyway it is all very, very sad

I knew Dale,Joni and their sons for the last couple of years. I had met her father, family friends and talked with Dale on a regular basis. He called me in May and told me about some marital issues they were having (in detail). Dale was desperately trying to keep his family together. The same issue was present in the past (three years earlier). We spoke about 2 weeks later and he told me things were getting better between he and Joni, and I was thankful. He told me that he had'nt told anyone else about the problems and I was happy all was well. The last time I heard from Dale was June 16 as he left a message on my voicemail. He wanted to let me know (agian) that all was well with him and Joni. I returned his call (left a voicemail of my own) but never heard back from him. I figured that they were ok and I knew I would talk to them again soon.

Today is July 30. As a sidenote, I do not live in El Paso so I do not know the news from that city. I found out today what had happen. I was horrified and saddened when I looked up the story. Knowing now that I knew what was going on in thier lives, and that this would be the end result leaves me with a very very strange feeling. No, this is not forgivable and there are alternatives for troubled couples, but something must have happen between June 16 and July 1 that set him over the edge (but then again, none of us were there July 1, so who really knows WHAT happen). My saddest moment was thinking that I should have shared the Good News of Jesus more deeply with Dale. To picture the eternal Damnation of Dale and Joni brought tears to my eyes.

Anyone making negitive comments to this truth be reminded that it is the truth and it had to be told. Thank you for reading this as I had to post these words.
