they should make it a law for the whole united states. not only for text messages for all cell phone use while driving behind the wheel of any mean of transportation. if its that important for any one to make a call or text messages people should use some commen sence and pull off to the side of the road or let there passanger use the phone. its a shame that we have to loose that many people to a cell phone. how many more are going to have to die before people realize the mistakes they are making using a cell phone behind the wheel. SO THOSE PEOPLE THAT USE THERE CELL PHONES BEHIND THE WHEEL STOP WHAT YOUR DOING AND THINK BEFORE YOU PICK UP THE PHONE WHILE YOUR DRIVING!!!!!

WOW! How this has hit so close to home. Just last week I was driving home from my third shift job when to my surprize I met a young girl who has only been driving a couple of years that lives just across the street from me, on her way to school, and she was on my side of the highway. In the very last second she just happen to look up and see me. I had already gotten as far off the road as I could. Luckily we missed, but the look on her face when she had realized what she had done was priceless. Thank God she was able to stear her vehicle back to her side of the highway. We have to make some kind of law to stop not only our young but those who wish they were still young using their phones for texting and calling and just talking in general. Its not to take away a privilage but to save lives. This is as serious as drinking and driving. If you have never been in a accident or wittness one then you problem don't understand the possiabilty of how serious not paying attention at all times of your surroundings while driving a motor vehicle. The new commericals that we hear on the radio now about watching out for motocycles is a great one, now if someone could only make one for those cell phone user. Thank you and drive safe fellow tenneseans, it could be me you are meeting on the highways.

There is a larger underlying problem which is distracted drivers in general. Texting is but one of many distracted driving techniques. I was almost rear-ended a few days ago by someone that was "distracted" applying make-up. I've also seen people reading books, eating hamburgers, eating soup, watching a football game, painting fingernails, etc., etc., ALL WHILE DRIVING, and all by adults who should know better and should be setting the example.

So we have to instate a LAW that will keep people from texting while driving. Because people can't fiqure out on there own that this is somthing you shouldn't do? Seems to me we are creating alot of new laws to protect the people without common sense.

I am surprised to see the texters, readers, make up artists, etc... on the road. Doesn't people use common sense these days?
Guess it is time to erect another tacky roadside memorial.
I am sorry that this has happened, but at the smae time I get so upset because it did not have to happen.
