I'm sorry, but I really believe that Ms. Starr was incredibly ignorant about something she, by virtue of the title and position she holds, should have known about. Every animal shelter in the country that I know of Educates and sends out messages about leaving a pet alone in a car with no air, especially on a hot day. That this woman is being advocated for by the ASPCA is very disturbing to me.
I don't think this woman should have this position, I believe she should have known better, and done better. I believe that she should be required to be tried on inhumane treatment of an animal. She probably would have left her child this way too, and if the child died would she be allowed to continue on with her job as though nothing had happened?
Is a dogs life worth nothing?

Come on!

Sincerely,

Although Robin saved many lives, she should have known better than to leave a dog in a car! If I see a dog in a car on a hot day, I sit and wait, timing the time until the owner returns. If the owner does not return within 5-8 minutes, I am looking for that person!

We all have accidents, but common sense is needed!

When mistakes are made forgiveness must be extended. But 2 tragic events from the same organization suggests that dispassionate observers must come in and evaluate what is truth.
The animals that God entrusts to our care are precious to Him and must be safeguarded and respected. Again, the truth should be established so that righteous decisions can be made concerning continued employment or justifable dismissals.

this is a very sad situation on so many levels. i would like to hear what she has to say. perhaps this tragedy could result in her becoming a truly amazing animal advocate and educator. loss and guilt can be tremendous motivators. i imagine she is fully aware of the far reaching affects of her pet's death that go beyond her personal pain and guilt. perhaps we can support and encourage her to make a real difference in the lives of the animals instead of writing her off as a lost cause. that would be better for everyone- people and animals. may something good come from louie's tragic death.

There can never be an excuse for this tragedy. She should resign immediately as no one can ever trust her again.

I don't believe in this case the dog was accidentally left in the car. I know it has happened with babies who were sleeping, but it is unlikely that I would ever "accidentally" leave my cat or dog in the car on a hot day...for several hours yet. I KNOW when I have one of them with me and it lets me know it is there. Most dogs do. When we travel, one of us stays in the car with the dog and cats while the other one goes in and picks up fast food! We don't even stop to eat!
Poor judgemnt, yes. Accident? No.

Never, never, never, do you leave a dog or any animal locked in a car to suffocate. No accidents, no ecuses, no nothing, she needs to be arrested on animal cruelty charges. And why wasn't she?

"Accidently" - please replace the word with "Ignorantly"! You dont need lots of brain power to know that you dont leave your child or dog alone in a car. Why do you use an aircon or for that matter wind down the window on a hot summer day. This is a rotten excuse to justify cruelty towards animals. The fact that this person is working in an animal institute proves her lack of education; her lack of animal compassion. She most probably is saddened because she has been exposed!

who used the word 'accident' in their post in such a way that everyone is hung up on the semantics of the word? the word accident usually denotes- not on purpose. does everyone here believe that this woman intentionally locked her dog in a car to die? though i agree the word accident lessens the horror of the situation, i can not be convinced that louie's death was purposeful.

Does anybody pay attention to what they do these days...If they aren't on their cells--texting while driving a train ( people died)--talking to a co-worker on the phone while air traffic controlling- Whoops--craSH (PEOPLE DIED)--not checking id's at the Presidental dinner--whoops 2 were able to get in (WHAT security) for our President...or being a school bus driver and NOT checking the bus for sleeping children and then parking it somewhere overnite..(Child died) and on and on and on..... ...How could she leave her beloved pet in her locked car to die--I hope she's removed from her duties...

I am one who calls for her immediate resignation. This is the epitome of irresponsibility and callousness from someone who should know better. Shame on Robin for doing the unthinkable. And shame on the SPCA for not a) terminating her and b) prosecuting her for that cruel, thoughtless crime.

This is ridiculous! How can canyone forget they have there animal in the car....that is like forgetting you have a baby or child in the car. On a hot summers day no less. I know this can happen to anyone but doesn't anyone look in their car when they lock it? This is a terrible tragedy. Accident you say! That's a hard one to comprehend!!!!

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Aquarius

Unfortunately it won't take much to get your wires crossed, especially if you're trying to keep track of your Christmas preparations. It's hard to work out what still needs to be done. A member of the family is away with the fairies or is being completely fanciful. It's a pest because that sort of behavior can make you feel anxious and harassed.
