Welcome signs

To see what Redlands has to offer, first one has to get into the city. There are 10 exits into Redlands from Interstate 10, five going east and five west.

oy-eyesores indeed-if one were to judge Redlands from these areas they would think it was a sad, tired and dirty place. A good place to start would be to water the poor palm trees! I'm em arassed when out of town family comes to visit.

San Bernardino County should up the incorporation of a Metrolink stop by the University of
Redlands to immediately, not seven years from now ! We need that "gateway" as soon as possible to stimulate our town's economy today. People are moving out of the crowded areas
west of Redlands and they will need convenient and economical transportation alternatives to their place of employment. Should they move to our beautiful city or further east, the Metrolink
stop would surely be an attractive reason to relocate and buy that morning cup o' joe or grab some breakfast or pick up some dinner or groceries all in the city of Redlands. But wait, what
about the residents of Redlands ? Aren't we concerned about "Global Warming" and gas prices
as well ? Why, yes we are ! So, why not show some consideration at home first and make life easier for all of the Redlands commuters whom spend their hard earned income right here .

When I came to Redlands 45 years ago I remember driving from the East through the pass at Wabash on I-10. The Valley opened up before us like a door, "So this is Redlands? Wow!" Ever since I wondered why there isn't a sign announcing Redlands? It could include population, founding year and orange tree theme,of course. Flagstaff has a beautiful log and rusted iron sign on I-10, Las Vegas has art designs on every overpass so that you know where you are.

Is there some service organization in town that would like a public service project?

It wouldn't cost anything to knock down the weeds with a string-trimmer, and it would certainly improve the looks of the off-ramps.

Why hasn't The City tried that?

I guess it's never as exciting to swing a weed-wacker as it is to dream up multi-million dollar edifices financed with other people's money.

Off-ramps are the property of CAL-TRANS. There is a fine line where the City stops and CAL-TRANS begins. Even if the City wanted to do something, it's not thier property to maintain.

I don't understand the mindset behind CALTRANS having any complaint whatsoever of Redlands city workers cutting down weeds and picking up garbage along the off-ramps.

The City Of Redlands could have our gateways looking sharp this week for nothing just by cutting down the weeds and picking up the trash.

There is an issue when City workers do any work on NON-city owned property.

A friend of mine works for the City and he said there was word around city yard that the current City Manager wants the City to start taking care of the off-ramps but the City attorney brought up the above issue.

Then there is the issue of the City being stretched thin as it is when it comes to manpower.
