Let's see, first Mr Dolan will make you pay for newsday.com if you are not a subscriber to the liberal rag.(like news12.com if you have fios or anything but opticrap) Second, everyone can say goodbye to what LITTLE coverage we have of our beloved New York Islanders.(Don't forget, he owns the Rangers) Third, ITS STILL GOING TO BE A LIBERAL RAG!!!!!!!!!! BUY THE POST!!!!!

Now there will be no internet coverage of Long Island news for people not using Optimum Online (as is the case with News12). The website will go down in page views to the few people who have optimum online. The people using dialup, dsl, wireless, or live outside of Cablevision's area will no longer know what happens in LI.

If Cablevision buys Newsday I am afraid it will lose a lot of its loyal readership.

Prepare for AP coverage of everything but the weather. 90% of newsroom will be let go. Have your resume up to date, Mr. Hennican? Everything will be written by same guy that does the crawl on News-12. There will be lots of weather coverage. Probably traffic too.
Classified ads will have to be tied in with Optonline at higher cost - this will be described as "Value" for the advertiser. All Knicks and Rangers "coverage" will be printed in brown type. Local pols not on the Dolan dole will get trashed at every opportunity.(Lot of local cable franchise agreements coming up.)

If you are going to buy a newspaper or a network TV station today why not consider buying a pig in a poke too?

I guess the movies on showtime and HBO will get older and older and the price of cable will get higher & higher. Par for the course. Get less pay more. Just like our government.

And ad revenue will go down with the pages views. Brilliant!

So they may own LI's TV, Internet, and now primary newspaper. I would think the FCC's media concentration rules or DOJ's antitrust laws would kick in.

I agree. They would have a near monopoly on the Island. This deal should not be allowed to happen. Fat azz Dolan has more than enough toys and power without adding newsrag to the pile.

Yes Newsday will be turned into the New12 formula, 1 hour of News 24 hours a day ... and isnce they will now own Newsday, they will have no one to copy from, hence there will be no real news.

We're doomed

When one family owns all the media on Long Island they can control the way you think, feel and act.
