Oh you really don't understand you need to stay for black bike week and a couple days after to see how the streets look when they leave harleys are here for what 10 days and all we have to do is empty trash cans when black bike week ends all the streets have to be cleaned because they throw anything and everything all over our streets and chicken bones are the worst I used to have to clean them up from in front of the restaurant before we could open in the am and we kept a trash can out there overnight so they could use it....so why didn't they cause they have no respect for the place there are visiting
They do not know what RESPECT is, because they have never been taught any! People keep comparing the BBW attendees to animals... well I know of animals that are cleaner than them! You people who live there in MB should NOT have to leave your homes because these disgusting creeps come to your town and act like fools, and the NAACP should keep their mouths SHUT!!

If you were threatened I am sure you called the police and have it documented. There is a case number on the police report. When you speak up at Council meetings you have proof that it has happened.
I guess you are the one also complaining that as many harley riders had sex on your lawn or urinated on your property. The accusations are growing and it sounds like a fairy tale.<quoted text>
All GREAT points!! I would love to hear about this police report!!

what about hotels, grocery stores? Many families do come for bike week. Midevil times, Dixie Stampede,(they literally encourage the business) mini golf etc. all thrive during the first week of the tourist season (Harley Week). <quoted text>
The people who want to rid us of the rallies don't think of these things and the people who have jobs BECAUSE of the rallies and the tourist dollar!!

Again, it is not the Harley Riders who cause the MAJORITY of the problems, it's BBW.

That's pretty funny!! I hear all this "End the MAY-hem" bs and it reminds me of spoiled kids who don't get their way. If that survey was in favor of Harley Week and not in favor of ending both Harley week and BBW, wouldn't the "End the MAY-hem"-ers try to "disavow" the same survey?
I have to give it to the bikers... they've been pretty cool about this whole thing (which tends to be the way most of them are 24/7). I haven't heard them "screaming" about what's going on. Instead, they're announcing meetings and such to discuss things.
Let me make myself a little clearer... I DO NOT support BBW!! The only rally that may be noisy, but does more good than harm is the Harley Rally, and my family and I will always welcome them over BBW. The only reason we hate BBW is because of the insanity and the attendees who disregard laws and common sense.
The Harley Riders raise money for charities and do wonderful things for this community. It's a shame that a lot of our residents can't see past the loud pipes. Maybe we should chip in and buy them earplugs for Harley week so we can keep these wonderful people coming to our area!!
You OBVIOUSLY missed City Council where the bikers in typical biker fashion were commenting about the retirees while speakers were addressing council. One biker yelled out a few times and a women from Little River (let me remind you LR is not in the city of MB) snarled and yelled. This was all in a publo forum and all uncalled for behvior.

Most charitable acts don't need public recognition yet I've heard it preached what bikers do for charity. When someone is truly giving from the heart that is their thank you and they don't require a pat on the back or an acknowledgement of any kind. Apparently many bikers are giving to charitites for the wrong reason since that is stated repeatedly here.

Generosity shouldn't require public acknowledgement if it's being given for the right reasons.

It's not the actual Harley riders who are acknowledging what they do for charity as much as it is people who support them. The only time I hear of what they're doing for charity is when they're advertising for participation. I don't ride a bike. I don't live in the city of Myrtle Beach anymore (thank God!!), but I do live in Horry County and right by one of the Harley Rally hot spots. I hear them night and day, but I don't complain until BBW comes along with their "free for all" monstrosity of a rally.
If I wasn't a stay at home mother of two small children, I'd be at the counsel meetings... but it's not a place for a two year old and eight month old who can't sit still. Both of my children love the Harleys, love seeing them and the people, and hearing their rumble... You're pointing out the actions of a select few from the crowd as opposed to the group as a whole. I've had nothing but positive experiences with the Harley Rally, but terrible experiences (including multiple near miss car accidents) with the other rally.
Again, my family and I support the Harley Rally or whenever they'd like to come...

A two year old and an 8 month old LOVE TO HEAR THEIR RUMBLE! Are you crazy lady? Do you know how sensitive a child's hearing is? You are doing damage to their ears I would bet. Ask your pediatrician.

Almost hitting another car is called a NEAR HIT, not a NEAR MISS. A near miss means you hit it!

You need more of the chambers to vote. 250 out of 2400 is not very many. I have been there during both. And it was the one over Memorial Day that were causing problems. They had a station out at the side of the motel I was staying in, and people were outside my room , sitting on the airconditioner, many were outside the door and window, leaning up against them. Loud music played most of the night. We
could not find a parking place at the motel, because this group, that were not staying there, took up the space. The police were called, and the loud music stopped for about 20 minutes, then, they made an anouncement asking for someone at the motel, to play Rap music as loud as they were playing it, the music and noise continued until early morning hours. There were cops on the other side of this motel, but they did nothing to stop the noise. We payed $98.00 for a room the size of a queen size bed, the motel should have paid us to stay there. The group looked at us like we were in their space, we did not feel safe out side the room, except in the mornings until about noon. This occured at the Bermuda Sands hotel. They told us they had no other rooms available, and there was not anything else they could do. They did earlier try to calm down the crowd, but it lasted only about 30 minutes. Both the motel and the police acted as if they were afraid to do anything about this group that were gathered there. It was on private motel property, where the cars were suppose to park. We had to remove the groups "road Block" just to get out of the parking lot. We had arrived early for our vacation. Thankfully, we had reservations in North Myrtle Beach for the rest of our stay.

earlier, and had reservations down in NMB the next day, for a week. d

I thought the NAACP was boycotting South Carolina anyway. Evidently, not doing enough to get the message out!! Let's see if we can't get the Yankees to do the same. Maybe then we CAN have a little peace and quiet!

When my kids like to look and listen to the bikes, I don't stop them. My daughter claps and my son just laughs at them... I doubt that watching bikes hurts their ears any less than these loud planes that fly over. Their hearing is fine... I'll give you their pediatrician's name and number if you'd like. My children are further advanced than most their age mainly because I'm not one of those crazy mothers who shelter them from everything that could hurt them... you can ask their pediatrician about that, too!! And how dare you comment on my children or what I'm doing to them or with them without knowing me or my family!!

Meanwhile, it was a NEAR MISS!! We nearly missed them by 6 inches off the bumper of a HUGE Dodge 3500!! I'd like to know how they missed us coming, for starters... and had we hit them, everyone would've known. You may want to check your terminology before you start commenting on mine.

I don't see why they can't get rid of Bikefest other than the fact that the Rev will be down here with the NAACP with a lawsuit. They want to sue at the drop of a hat anyway!
If the bikers during Bikefest knew how to act and somewhat behave it would be different. These little bike gangs riding down hwy 17 in all three lanes doing 10 miles an hour TRYING to look cool. The apparel of some of the women is very inappropriate, plus several other issues. Agreed, Harley week DOES have its problems, but not like that. It's got nothing to do with race; it's got to do with being intelligent enough to know how to behave in public.
Even though it says you are in Knoxville, TN, answer this.. WHY WOULD THE NAACP sue over ending bike week? Because IT'S UNCONSTIUTIONAL! IF THEY TRY ENDING HARLEY WEEK, I RECCOMEND THEM FIGHT FOR THAT TOO, BECAUSE WE AS AMERICANS ARE LOSING OUR RIGHTS, AND YOU IDIOTS ARE SO BLIND TO SEE IT! DO NOT LET THEM DO THIS, NOT FOR HARLEY WEEK, OR AB BIKE WEEK! IT IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL! A AREA CANNOT BAN PEOPLE FROM COMING!! I REPEAT, A AREA "CANNOT" BAN ANYONE FROM COMING!! WISE UP, OPEN YOUR EYES!

Do you think that way about your mother, wife and daughter?

You seem to treat women as second class citizens.

Nope, don't have a thing against women, but I do believe that this one should stick to taking care of her kids. She sounds like a 13 year old.

What is wrong with changing diapers? I did it for any number of years for my children.
