Rose, if the bikers leave Myrtle Beach we won't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars cleaning up after they depart. Our law enforcement officers, rescue squads, doctors, nurses and jailers wouldn't be overworked. Our children could sleep at night, there wouldn't be puplic nudity and lewd acts on display everywhere. Myrtle Beach could have a calm month and enjoy the month of May like we do all of the other months here.
Then you could rename your gosh darn town Maybery, sit on your front porch and keep all your dirty little secrets behind closed doors.

It is clear Harley events are favored by a wide margin over the crimenfest event over memorial day. If the city or county does not have the backbone to end crimefest on it's own, why not extend Harley through memorial day weekend and let Harley the folks get rid of this crap once and for all.

Am I wrong? 1st of all, I truly believe the HD rally people are going to show up in the spring,
probably more than ever, just to show MB they can. This rally issue is getting national coverage.
Now about the vendors. I keep reading about "TRAFFIC CONGESTION" It seems to me that the vendors provide something for the riders to do, if they are visiting vendors then they are not riding, by eliminating the vendors the riders will spend more time riding.
If I were me, and was looking for ways to help, I would be looking for MORE things for the riders to do (instead of less) this could help with the traffic, maybe
I ride to MB along with 6 other motorcycle friends every year (for many years) with wives in tow,(And the 14 of us spend a serious amount of money) and never yet to have an encounter with the police. The more things we have to do, the less time we spend riding in your fair city...
We will continue to be there for the spring HD rallies, even if there is not one vendor in Horry county....Riders don't follow the vendors,--The vendors follow the riders
We consider ourselves motorcycle riders not BIKERS, People that chose to drive a pickup truck are not called TRUCKERS or mini van drivers are not called VAN'ERS or SUV'ERS
OK, DONE

I am a resident! I know all about BBW since I live in North Myrtle Beach!
I am not hiding behind any survey. I live in a community that wants the Bike Weeks ended. We all KNEW that the pro-rally crowd would disavow the survey if it didn't support their efforts. I pay taxes on two homes here. I support the community 365 days a year and not just 10. We have rights also.
END THE MAYHEM - TOO LOUD, TOO LONG, TOO MANY!
That's pretty funny!! I hear all this "End the MAY-hem" bs and it reminds me of spoiled kids who don't get their way. If that survey was in favor of Harley Week and not in favor of ending both Harley week and BBW, wouldn't the "End the MAY-hem"-ers try to "disavow" the same survey?

I have to give it to the bikers... they've been pretty cool about this whole thing (which tends to be the way most of them are 24/7). I haven't heard them "screaming" about what's going on. Instead, they're announcing meetings and such to discuss things.

Let me make myself a little clearer... I DO NOT support BBW!! The only rally that may be noisy, but does more good than harm is the Harley Rally, and my family and I will always welcome them over BBW. The only reason we hate BBW is because of the insanity and the attendees who disregard laws and common sense.

The Harley Riders raise money for charities and do wonderful things for this community. It's a shame that a lot of our residents can't see past the loud pipes. Maybe we should chip in and buy them earplugs for Harley week so we can keep these wonderful people coming to our area!!

Thank You so much for adding that about the charities you don't see BBW doing anything for anyone but themselves. I know of lawyers, doctors, and Business Owners that have and ride there bikes and visit Myrtle Beach several times a year although this year I know of a few that would not spend there money here and it's sad to say but we brought this on ourselves or should I say the city council burdened us with it.

You're right. Our leaders have brought this upon us and it's just not right. The problem with the noise is understandable... but can't we suffer for 7-10 days with noise if it means helping our community?

BBW goers do nothing to help this community, except contribute to our ever-growing crime rate. They're the ones that need to find another place to host their insane rally.

Addeum to my previous stmt:

Not all blacks are like the ones that show up in Myrtle Beach during Atlantic Beach Black Bike Fest. I had lunch with a black friend this afternoon and he actually called the ones that act out in Myrtle Beach a bunch of thugs spoiled by money and their parents.

I am reacting to having spent 22 years in Myrtle Beach and having to put up with the actions during ABBBF. Something ust be done before a very tragic occurance happens. This could be next May.

It isn't about SEEING past the loud pipes - it is about HEARING past the loud pipes.

As far as the HD crowd being PRETTY COOL you MUST BE JOKING! We have been threaten, cursed at, told to leave where we live so they can have their FUN, etc. On the other hand, posters against the rallies have had their ugly moments also! If you can't see how this has turned into ONE TERRIBLE FIGHTFEST between the two sides you aren't reading ALL the forums.

You consider it "B S". WE consider it SANITY! Spoiled kids not getting their own way? That is exactly how most of us see the bikers. Both sides are organizing and I am hopeful IN TIME things will work out!

Please remember that you make money 48 weeks a year. Some of it comes from people who spend money at your business before and after bike week with income generated. I also have a business that doesn't prosper during the actual even, but other business' spend more money gearing up for the event.

The point here is they are infringing on other peoples rights. The business' that thrive on tourists during the tourist season, and the bikers rights.

If this was sleepy towns in the boondocks your might have a chance but this is a tourist town, that has welcomed Harley Week for 68 years. No one wants to live in a ghost town. Expecially when you are a resort.
so what wrote:
Mr Headache...you are correct that the city council is scared of the NAACP. Therefore in order to do a way with one we will have to rid the city of both. The problem is that you own your business in Murrells Inlet and this ralley is a Myrtle Beach oriented ralley. Therefore MB has to deal with the annoying crowds. You make money off it and I have to work my @#% off and I get nothing from it. My opinion since I live in MB is rid of both and then we dont have to worry about anything. I am sorry ahead of time for all those that benefit from it and like it but it is a huge money maker for certain businesses and not all. It is not a money maker for me. Families benefit my business and if I am not mistaken Myrtle Beach is a family oriented beach. And dont start with the strip clubs because they are everywhere and not accessible to children,

If you were threatened I am sure you called the police and have it documented. There is a case number on the police report. When you speak up at Council meetings you have proof that it has happened.

I guess you are the one also complaining that as many harley riders had sex on your lawn or urinated on your property. The accusations are growing and it sounds like a fairy tale.

??????What is Md. 20-20?

what about hotels, grocery stores? Many families do come for bike week. Midevil times, Dixie Stampede,(they literally encourage the business) mini golf etc. all thrive during the first week of the tourist season (Harley Week).

You are correct. It's just sad that these tourists are so tacky and disrespectful. Our beaches and coastal areas are so pretty!
Please buy my house with the millions of dollars you all earn during May. I would love to move to one of the coastal communities who have refused to let the bikers assemble in large ridiculous numbers and act like idiots.--I'm thinking of Boxing For Boobs as an example.:)
After sifting through all of your posts, I conclude that you have more problems that just bike weeks. Take care.
