I will purchase a new vehicle soon, weeks from now, and also a GM product, however I also in the past purchased Mopar and Ford and Volkswagen, bottom line, love the car you love to drive, that is the American Highway. In Japan where it is costly to have a parking spot in a major city and most commute by rail bus or bike, can we complain that they are not buying enough German or Korean or Brazilian or Mexican or Australian Automobiles? Their kids are taking the bus or pedal bike to their destination, we are the big open. Love what you drive.

It seems to be that most of these people either retired from GM, work for GM, or have a family member that does. Once you get out in the real world and out of Michigan, not many people care for their automobiles. Hence the 24% market share. It appears they will be in Bankruptcy soon. Maybe after re-structuring they might be able to grab a bigger market share. Not the way they are today though.

For the first time I can recall, I actually agree with a small part of what Carl Levin said: our automobile industry is second to none.

We hear that them aren't making the cars we want. Wrong. They aren't making the cars the greenies want them to make.

We hear that they can't compete. Truth is GM builds a car with less actual labor than Japan. It is the UAW overhead that kills U.S. automakers.

Levin says foriegn governments subsidize their automakers. Not exactly. But those governments do have a reasonable retirement package instead of a worthless Ponzi scheme cleverly renamed Social Security. As a result, their automakers pay for one pension plan, not two!

Foriegn automakers don't have the burden of the UAW. U.S. automakers collectively spend hundreds of billions every year for what amounts to nothing more than a Mafia-style protection racket that, in reality, protects them from nothing. We hear that Ford's union is voting on concessions. That's for the workers. What concessions are the union officials making? Auto execs are working for a dollar a year. What does Goettelfinger get?

Be subversive! Drive an American car in spite of the government's and union's best efforts to destroy them!

The UAW workers should volunteer to take a pay cut for a while until the big three can get back on their feet. The salary workers should do the same if the have not done so.

Tell you what....If I was given a 14 million dollar bonus I would work for $1.00 a year for 29 years.$1.00 a year my buttocks. How about all the "other" expenses that are paid for?? Ever since Wagoner has been in command, he gets more, the UAW gets less and the company has lost billions. So where lies the real problem?? Just like the Detroit Lions, wait till they lose everything then change managers...

For the Detroit 3 and the UAW, the PANIC button is in the middle of the bargaining table, waiting to be pushed. Who will blink first and reach for it?

I think if they continue to just stare at it, Wall Street will push it for them when GM stock settles in below $1/share.

Lear Corporation, another large supplier, whose stock was holding above GM a couple of years ago, is currently under .50 (cents)/share. They are on the brink of filing Chapter 11.

The dominoes are starting to tip over.

So you don't like liberals and environmentalists. OK fine. But don't tell me GM has been making cars people want to buy, because they haven't, if they had they wouldn't be in the mess they are in now. Pure and simple and something a 2nd grader could understand. Arrogance and complacency is what killed GM. If they go under I will feel terrible for those that lose their jobs but won't shed a tear for the corporation itself.

Except for one vehicle out of six, we always bought GM. I would still like to buy GM, but we have been burned too many times.

Buy a brand new Suburban and the cd player goes bad within a week. They do not replace it with a new player, but they order a rebuilt one "certified." The certified player gets replaced 2 more times at the dealer. When I complained I received a letter from GM (still have it), where they told me to contact the BBB for arbitration. Yes, the "contract" for this brand new vehicle states that rebuilt parts can/will be used. Even if it is a week-old vehicle that you just paid 35K for. The "certified" rebuilt player was replaced two more times during the next couple months- different problems but still broken.

There are ridiculous recalls: abs failing due to sensor corrsion. Instead of fixing the root cause of the problem for the recall, just install the same poorly designed part every 2-3 years (at my expense).

We discovered that our USA-manufactured Suburban's engine was manufactured in Mexico. It wasn't because of the window sticker, but we found out when John Decker diagnosed a knocking problem caused by a lose fuel line banging into the firewall. When they looked into it the tech found a crescent wrench sitting on the top of the engine... with tool's brand written in Spanish(still have the crescent wrench). Considering all of the problems we have had I would not be surprised that it was assembled with a crescent wrench.

The only vehicle I might consider from GM is one that is engineered by Toyota, manufactured in the US with Toyota involved in Q.A. Otherwise there is no way I would buy from GM again.

This country is about to go through some drastic changes, and far as I'm concerned, GM does not need to be part of it! We just purchased our third Honda, two weeks ago. There is nothing the former big 3 make that interest us in the slightest. Our Saturn wagon was a lemon, so got rid of that! By the way our Honda was built in the US! Just not in Michigan!

let see, do you want to save more money on your next car, or pay more so someone else gets a severance check or higher retirment bonus?
At my job, if they need to down size they just lay peeple off and they get unemployment checks. What I see them doing with giving this big cheks to retire and I then have a higher price on my car. No thanks
Of course I think about others, but I have to think about my money issues first.

You are retarded if you think that the price of ANY car will go down whether it's union or non-union made, whether buyouts are offered at any given company or not. There are way too many ignorant people like you in this world. Get a clue!
