Dicipline is a mind set. Good dicipline = good prudent decisions.

If you cant be on time and you have let other committments take control of your time, then what other things are out of control in your life?

These people make important decisions that affect each of us every minute of every day. I WANT someone who has some discipline in their life and takes the job seriously!

Congradulation Bob Cockrum. Just don't do as rumor has it in your district. Don't let Dale Henson (the current Fire Chief) have your seat after a year or so. Again, Bob don't let the rumors of an early retirement and appointment of a Township Croney be true.
Danny, I couldn't agree more!

What is going on here. Mr. Monroe Gray is the city councel president. They can't kick him out because of Ballard. Please some have a serious answer to my question.

Small problem here. The other council members don't work for Bob. They work for the people who voted them in office. If those folks are happy with their work, presumably because they support the person's votinf record, it probably won't matter to them if Bob has to wait a few minutes.

I very much doubtful that you will see anything happen on the Monroe Gray issue until the new counsel take control. It would serve very little to appoint members right now.

They can't kick him out of the council, but he will no longer be president. And, as of the first meeting in January, he will be undergoing a serious ethics investigation, which will hopefully get him to resign, or go to jail, or both.

Thanks for all the responses, fellow posters.
Our city has much more important things to address than when someone shows up for a meeting. Many people can do the research outside of the meeting and come in to cast a ballot. They have poll their constituents, read the relevant documentation and, yes, check with their party's leadership to get a sense of which way to vote.
The police thing will be done very quickly. Anderson doesn't have the votes to stop it. If that's the new guy's biggest priority what will ever get accomplished after the 1st of the year?
Again, if I'm another member on that council, I'm curious what punishment Bob has in line for me if I'm late. It's almost worth showing up late to see what he'll do. Hey Bob, you aren't in the military on this one. You better learn to deal with real people in the real world.
If you consistently show up late for work, you are disrespecting your' fellow workers! As if your time is more important than mine! If you and I worked together and I had to sit and wait on you to show up, eventually we're going to have a problem! If you can't manage your time better than that then perhaps you've got too much on your plate! Why do you think Julia Carson is the target of so many attacks? It's because she has a lousy attendance record! One of the worst in fact! Her constituents don't seem to mind that fact and that is a shame because she was put there to represent them and if she's not there, how can she!

I think this article deals with his presiding over meetings, etc. The meeting procedures will be his responsibility and that's why this was mentioned.

The democrats lost their majority on the CCC. The President of the CCC is chosen by members of the CCC. So, the Republicans have chosen this gentleman. Monroe Gray will not be kicked out of the CCC, he just won't be president beginning Jan. 1.

Is anyone surprised that democrats get bent out of shape when someone expects people to show up to work on time? I mean, Monroe Gray got $85k for showing up to work one time - to get his picture taken in a fire uniform - at IFD, and he got re-elected.

DaveM,
Thank you. I was afraid ballard was going to try top remove him. He will stay as president until he is voted out! So, I would expect that the concil won't be able to move agains Sherrif Frank Anderson. I don't see how they could remove an elected official. Also, the tax increase for safety should stay valid. Is this you're understanding.

This is going to be refreshing. Open meetings and punctuality.
Rather than closed doors and come as you please attitudes. This city could use a good dose of military style discipline.

They may not be able to remove him however they can basically strip him of everything but the jail. At that he's in over his head.

Did you even read the article? Monroe will be out as president. He will remain on the Council, at least until the coming investigation of him commences.

I can hear the Marion Co. dems now: "did you see what the Republicans did to Monroe?"

It don't matter which party is in charge. The "people" will be screwed. When one party is in charge the business gets a rough way of things. They in turn freeze wages & lay people off. When the other party is in charge the people have a rough time. In turn they don't spend as much & the business' are hurt. But at the end of the day someone will be screwed that someone is us.

Will they wear their uniforms to meetings? We can be a little like Pakistan.

Yeah, sort of like the first 3 rows of the city council meeting where they locked out the citizens and the fire and police brass lackeys of Peterson had reserved seats. I must say that Bling Bling Sheriff Anderson was fine looking with his rows of medals - he did look like a third rate dictator. Is that what you meant?i

Council President is elected by the majority party which is currently 15-14 Democrat controled. In January it will be 16-13 Republican controlled, and Monroe will be without the "juice" he so loves. He will remain until the people of his district realize he does nothing for them...they are a bit slow to catch on it seems. BTW do you thinke you would like to get off welfare at some point in your life? Based on your previous posts you sure seem to like being on the dole.

Does anyone own a "You got my vote Mayor" to English dictionary? Seriously, is this someone's idea of a joke?
