You sound real smart, stop abortion, but enforce the death penalty! Either you are for or against life man. Grow up and make up your mind while doing it. You sound like a typical brain dead redneck.

Did I miss something? Did the Democrats hold the CCC for eight years? Who is spreading this misinformation? I'm anxious to see what this Republican Council is going to do. The minority party always pay lip service of whining and how it will be different if they had control. Then when they get control they do the same thing the last majority party did.

Yes, the council will do what they can to try there fix to the police merger, crime, and spending. However, they can't do squat for the property taxes and don't let them take credit if it get better. That's Mitch Daniel's and both Houses of Indiana if there is a constitutional change needed. The council will put their suggestions in, but that is where it will stop.

On another note, Ballard better be careful of what he ask. If he want to take control of the police department then also be prepared to take responsibility if nothing changes in crime. I don't want to here any excuses.

Personally I'm sick of both parties. I hope that since Ballard got in without much help, he will be for the people and not let the career politicians ruin him. I saw the list of his committee and I'm not all that convinced. A bunch of lawyers and back politicians is what I saw. Let's see what happens folks. January 1st, and it is on.

20 sounds good. They wanted the position. The least they can do is be there on time.

it is scary that we now have a council president who's highest priority is the punctuality of the members...I think maybe we have bigger problems in this city to deal with
You know what is really scary is that he has to make punctuality an issue at all. We are not dealing with 3rd graders here.

Nothing much ever changes. These political systems are too entrenched. The city did not change much from Hudnut to Goldsmith, except it felt meaner. Bart really tried some things, but he would let himself be held down by a crooked CCC.

Ballard has made promises that the machines will never let him get away with.

Write this down: You will continue to be taxed from womb to tomb. The republicans may steal your money for different reasons, but steal they will. The cops will always feel put upon, because the thing that makes them cops, also makes them feel a little above everyone else. That honeymoon will be over quickly.

The Stadium will be finished, and funded for its lifetime by taxes, the convention center will be built, and hotels and the Simons and Irsay's will continue to pocket taxpayer money.

Gray will not be held to account, Sanders will continue to try and run the Convention Center behind the scenes, and new crooks from the new group of CC members will emerge.

The big law firms will continue to run the city. The Star will never quite understand that the best way to sell papers is to be the watchdog, no matter who is charge.

And the bloggers will continue to be nasty.

I "am real smart" and I'm not a "typical brain dead redneck" and here are a few words of wisdom for you.........."mothers " end an innocent life through abortion (otherwise known as a convenient form of birth control for them in most cases)and the baby never had a chance or a choice! People dealt the death penalty at least were born, grew up and had many choices and chances and they made the wrong one and therefore must pay for it! Do you get it now?

Thanks for all the responses, fellow posters.

Our city has much more important things to address than when someone shows up for a meeting. Many people can do the research outside of the meeting and come in to cast a ballot. They have poll their constituents, read the relevant documentation and, yes, check with their party's leadership to get a sense of which way to vote.

The police thing will be done very quickly. Anderson doesn't have the votes to stop it. If that's the new guy's biggest priority what will ever get accomplished after the 1st of the year?

Again, if I'm another member on that council, I'm curious what punishment Bob has in line for me if I'm late. It's almost worth showing up late to see what he'll do. Hey Bob, you aren't in the military on this one. You better learn to deal with real people in the real world.

after listening to an interview with this guy on the radio last night it #1 seemed as though he got the presidency by default (he had been there for 12 years) & #2 this guy (& the council)does not get it.
I have to look at this with trepidation. I would like to see his voting record and see what he's done.
Maybe you should look at his voting record before you start whinning. No to the merger...no to the .65 income tax....and so on. He has been elected 4 times for a reason.

You are right on. IF they are not crooks when they go in, they will be crooks by the time they leave. All the perks and pay offs offer too much temptation. Politicians are just front men. The real power lies with the Indy elite-those with money or entrenched power like the law firms. The elections are just a front for us poor folk who don't really know what is going on, nor how little power we really have over our society. Just think! If they put an issue about building and funding the new football stadium on a general ballot, it would have never passed. Most of Indianapolis will never enter the doors there because we can afford the price of a ticket. We need a revolution!

Congradulation Bob Cockrum. Just don't do as rumor has it in your district. Don't let Dale Henson (the current Fire Chief) have your seat after a year or so. Keep it up Bob, I think you will make a difference.

Again, Bob don't let the rumors of an early retirement and appointment of a Township Croney be true.

The Council's new President...

A 74-year old 12 year incumbent.

This is what the county wanted?

Bob's a nice enough guy, but deep down, he's just another party guy that toes Tom John's line.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Libra

It's one of those difficult days when anything can and will happen. Someone you were relying on might let you down, plans could be changed at the eleventh hour or a machine could go on the blink. To make matters worse, your energy levels are very erratic, so you feel full of beans one minute and ready to go to sleep the next. Don't make the situation worse by eating foods that give you a high followed by a slump.
