A pick-up for pickups

Full story: The York Daily Record

Billed as a way for the government to put more fuel-efficient vehicles on highways, the popular $3 billion Cash for Clunkers program mostly involved swaps of old Ford or Chevrolet pickups for new ones that got only marginally better gas mileage, according to an analysis of new federal data by The Associated Press.

Maybe next time you want someone to buy a hybrid vehicle with 'your' money....you will spell that out in the fine print.

This shows people will buy any thing, they have to be the top in sales to replace the ones that don't run or the ones that rusted out!

Our government is composed of sycophants. They give you something so at a later date they can say how generous they were.
Completely idiotic wasting that much money in taxpayer funds for people to buy a newer gas guzzler.

They sell more trucks because the don't last. Chevrolet #1 in customer satisfaction and longevity since day ONE.

Just because you sell a million of something doesn't mean that they're any good. I'd rather sell half a million that NEVER come back for recalls, than a million that get recalled regularly.

So, you're saying all those millions of people who keep buying Ford trucks are all stupid? And you're the smart one? Why would you say that?

Yup.

I am indeed the smart one. Only a dumbass would be willing to keep paying an average of $3O,OOO for a new Ford truck every 5 years instead of an average of $3O,OOO every 1O years for a GM truck.

For example..........
2 Ford trucks over 1O years =$6O,OOO
1 GM trucks over 1O =$3O,OOO

That means the Ford buyer WASTED $3O,OOO instead of using it on something else worthwhile. It's HALF the money for TWICE the quality. Simple economics.

Boy humor sure is wasted on these forums. I personally don't care about FORD or GM trucks. If I were to purchase a truck, my 12 year old daughter wants a Tundra (I don't know why, don' ask) so I'd probably get her one when she turns sixteen. My post said 19FORDY2...see I put Ford in there as the date...that was a joke...ah forget it

I thought it was clever. Maybe I am too easily entertained....

That's your opinion of what constitutes simple economics, not necessarily factual.
I happen to think both Chevy and Ford, and to a large extent, Dodge, all make trucks well suited to their intended market. Just pick whatever one best suits your needs. Doesn't mean someone who picks one different from yours is an idiot.

Numbers don't lie, and they ARE factual.

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Scorpio

If you've been surrounded by people during the past few days you welcome the chance to have some time to yourself today. It's a wonderful excuse to do something really indulgent in private, such as scoff a whole box of chocolates while watching a favourite film on TV. But make sure you destroy all the evidence before everyone else comes home!
