To Mr, Carroll and the Chicago Tribune

Using the vedio is fine, but trust me when i say this is NOT the first time United as refused a claim at this, and wont be the last. Ive worked for the Airline industry for some time now and let me tell you, they dont put their employee first, as we've seen with the layoffs, and with regards to customer service, please, thats the last thing on there mind.

I just won't fly on ANY airline. I can think of better ways to have my life end, than on a silver metal tube plunging to the ground at an accelerated rate of speed, while I c rap my pants before I die [what was that my mother said about clean underwear?]... after going through the indignity of a TSA "naked screening" which most likely will be replayed after my death as a porno, for the entertainment of TSA employees, who also suck as big a green wienie as United employees.
If I can't drive, or take Amtrak or Greyhound, I won't be going there.
Bwahahaha. Driving, Greyhound, and Amtrak are not safer.

So write a song called "United Breaks Wheelchairs". Good like finding words that rhyme and fit the metre with "wheelchair".

The cool part about this song is that there are two more coming.

Anyone want to wager that United is trying to enter into discussions with Dave Carroll BEGGING him not to release the other two songs?

This could start a whole new thing -- writing songs poking fun at big business, and using the big business by name to poke the fun.

Who's going to be the first to write a funny song about the idiots at AT&T?

Tell ya what. He'll quit his job when you quit yours. Oh, I'm sorry, you're already one of the unemployed? So this is how you spend your time -- writing comments on message boards -- instead of looking for a job?

You were probably terminated because you're lazy and didn't get your job done.

What college did you drop out of again?

Ah Yes... The "Friendly skies of United" lol -- I recently was coming back from a wonderful trip to Molokai Hawaii and had to change planes in Chicago to Columbus OH. United cancelled my flight, forcing me to book a substitute flight on Southwest (which I thoroughly enjoyed). My bag was supposed to be flown from Chicago to Columbus on a later United flight--but never arrived until the next day. United refused to deliver my bag to my hometown--- 90 miles from Columbus. I also was transferred to some guy in India to try to resolve my dilemma--- to no avail. I'll never fly United again .

I'm laughing so hard at this whole situation! And I think it's great.
But seriously, I think United Airlines is now going to have a bigger problem...after years of listening to their theme music, I seriously cannot remember it...at all. This Dave Carroll song on the other hand is not only going through my mind as I sit here, but the refrain "United Breaks Guitars" is immediately what I think of now when I see the UAL name or logo...
Professional advertisers can't buy this kind of consumer response for millions of dollars and Dave and some pals on their own time smack a home run grand slam...this is too too sweet! I'm sufficiently intrigued to have gone and looked up their tour schedule and they'll be at the Milwaukee Irish Fest, so I think I'll go if for no other reason than to toast his success!:)
It's Gerhswin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and the only reason I know it is because I had to skate to it.

Racism?

It's a takeoff on mariachi music harmony. I'm no musician but that one is obvious.@@

Love this video, and United certainly earned it. Can't wait for number two!

I've been a travel agent for 33 years and this complete distain for their flying customers is now standard treatment at United Airlines. They are truly the biggest villian flying the "friendly skies". Go Dave!

As Americans I think we've had enough of outsourced call center jobs to India. Aren't there enough smart Americans to do the work? What I do is when I finally get patched through I ask them where they are located, and if I find out or they tell me it's overseas I don't do business with that company.
Someone ought to start a website listing these companies outsourcing jobs to other countries where people can't speak English and can't help you. Then we ought to start boycotting them and tell them why.
Bring the jobs back to the USA. We use Webex at work, Cisco bought them, their call center people in Mumbay or somewhere are just terrible, they know nothing. I actually had one guy answer the phone in this bad accent and say "Hi my name is Elvis".
So what you are saying is that Elvis has been in Mumbay the entire time?

What a prankster !!!

There is no reason to intentionally destroy a fine musical instrument of one of your customers, and then to hassle them about it. Bad karma for United, and really bad PR move. This slights all the good people that do work for United, and there are a lot. I can think of two people there that need to be fired.

Miz is right on. United's reaction of being the nice guys trying to make it right, with the spokesperson joking about "striking a chord with us" is just the height of hypocrisy. This is after telling the guy to go pound sand month after month.
United was the company that convinced me forever that "employee owned" was a sure trip to destruction for any large company. When they made that move it seemed like the attitude of the employees became "screw you, I'm an owner."
John J
YER sure right. United management brought this down on themselves. NOW pay big time with a ton of real bad publicity. If United MANAGEMENT would have just setteld with this guy and admitted they screwed up this would have all gone away. BUT, management just can't ever get it in their head to do the right thing. They are so affraid some manager above them will see it as 'weakness' or giving away United's money. So they do nothing.
Hope this guy gets a recording contract and a spot on Letterman and John Stewart show..

hi-larious. Welcome to why I just booked a trip on Southwest Airlines about 10 minutes ago.

Read it again!
I would never fly southwest airlines again. Me and my daughter went to Midway and they decided to search us...mother and daughter looking terrorist? After wanding/looking down our tops/searching through our purses and looking at the bottoms of our feet (it was summer - we had shorts/sandals) they went mental when I picked up my emptied purse..."I didn't tell you that you could pick that up yet"... I would never go back to Midway or southwest airlines no matter how cheap.

You must not fly very often... were you wearing lowcut tops with alot of cleavage? Give the security folks a reason to get a quick peek at your expense?

In case you didn't know security is handled by the TSA - government - and has NOTHING to do with any airlines or airport for that matter. And this is not a joke, and you shouldn't have touched anything until they said it was OK. It's called power - they have it, you don't, so you play by their rules, or you get yelled at or worst. So either deal with it or travel by some other method. It is what it is...
